A report in today's Daily Record claims that Shinty was played at Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge long before football. In the report entitled 'The Theatre of Drams' expert Dr Hugh Dan MacLennan states that the game travelled South with Scots who were looking for work. A game between Manchester Cottonopolis and Bolton Camanachd was played at Old Trafford in 1879 and the 'World Championship' between Beauly (Inverness) and London Camanachd was played at Stamford Bridge. The report goes on to state that Nottm Forest were among a number of clubs set up to play Shinty. Anyone know more about this, there is no mention of it in my United history books ?
