Shay Given

Our acrobat between the sticks' recent conduct seems somewhat suspect. Shay recently made a stink about the club leaving his contract extension too late.

The club then issued a statement confirming that the ball was in the player's court regarding signature of the agreed deal, and Given needed to make the position clear regarding his future.

I'm starting to think he's on his way out. If the rumour mill is to be believed it would most likely be to you lot or to Celtic.

Anyone heard anything?

Given's too short for United. After all, he was the shortest in the League until Barthez arrived!

One goalkeeper I'd like to see between the sticks at Old Trafford is Cuddicini of Chelsea, I think he'd be great. Maybe in a couple of years, who knows?

Utter bullshit, if he couldnt handle the pressure of unfilled he's hardly going to handle it @ Man Utd,

People, we are not going to sign another 'keeper apart from Steele. SAF is happy with Barthez and Carroll, and Given and James, though good 'keepers, do not match up to him. Saying that, Given is young and when Barthez retires he would not be a bad signing.

Rubbish. Given is an excellent keeper and would make a great first choice keeper for us. Would I prefer him to Barthez ? not sure...if Fab is going to get the wobblies again, then yes, if Given can maintain his excellent form this season, then yes.

btw, I remember asking you Geordie1 about Given a couple of years ago and you saying he was going to be excellent....so you were spot on...

Agree with redbelly. Given would be a good buy, the only other Premiership keepers I think I would consider up to the job would be Sorensen and perhaps Poom, although I'm not sure about him.

Martyn is available and he can do a great job while Carroll develops. Given is ok too. Dudek was a quality buy from Houllier and I also think Jaaskelainen is good.

We're still looking for our Schmeichel aren't we? :(

Wahey!

Fears totally unfounded it would seem. Feel a bit sorry for Steve Harper, tho...Best backup keeper in the league. And never gets a fecking game.

Kirkland's the best keeper who never gets a game... ;)

There's loyalty, and then there's blind loyalty and that definitely falls into the latter category!

What bollocks...

None of you could tell a canny 'keeper from bald headed clown. ;)
