v 2.0 is quite the menace, isn't he?

Put himself about a lot this season, got stuck in at Old Trafford and he really is quite solid in the tackle now.

If you've followed his career from Valencia, until now, you'll know he was really lightweight and soft way back when, and even in England he's gotten by, doing his thing by being brilliant on the ball. This season, however, he looks like a man possessed when tracking back and he goes into every tackle with intent.

Not only does he make that City team tick, he's actually quite an irritant to shrug off whilst defending.

v 2.0 really is something else. What has gotten into him?

Looks like POTS to me.

He'll have hair again this time next year, he's just waiting for the hair transplant to kick in.

Pep... not in a gay way

as in his coaching and developing of players and understanding his system...

Best player in the league over the last six/seven years imo.

Yup. Maybe had a season or two where his standards dropped but generally been absolutely top class. Exactly the sort of player we've been repeatedly trying and failing to sign over the same period of time. Don't really agree with the v2.0 stuff. He's doing what he's always done. Play fantastic football.

Anyone else remember that pre season game at OT v Valencia all those years back when Silva basically put himself in the shop window and said to Fergie 'buy me'?

:(

Agreed. I think it's probably just more apparent this season because the players around him are delivering too and City are in great form. He's carried them through a lot of poor spells. Even this season.

Read the title as 'Seven-Headed David Silva' and thought about Book of Reveleation for a minute.

Poop's the devil, confirmed.

Yup, although Aguero being their highest goal-scorer is a contender as well.

I’m amazed by his consistency over his tenure there. Seems hard to dislike off the pitch too...

Aguero is a contender too, so are Yaya(peak) and Kompany, exluding old gaints like Bell, Bret Bert Trautmann, but something about Silva just stands out. He is like the architect around whom this City resurgence was build on.

And finally, the smiley face emoticon.
 teardrop by his eye.

His on the ball contributions aren't what I'm getting at as they have been superb for his entire time in the league. His defensive actions and off-the-ball-play, the way he's getting stuck in and the tenacity with which he is doing it, is something new, however.

Maybe it is just Pep as @sun_tzu said, but I'd like to go with the biker gang theory.

The amaizing thing for me is his work rate. It is great. Him and KDB are not only (among) the most creative players in the league but also among the most hard-working. Same as Xavi and Iniesta in this regard. Xavi used to cover 12-13 km per game. Your creative players should be available for a pass at any moment.

Weren't United rumoured to be genuinely interested in him for a good while long before City expressed an interest? I seem to remember a long thread on here many years ago about him.

With regards to the OP, he's always put himself about to be fair and never been afraid to get stuck in.

I must admit that when he first arrived, I wasn't sure he'd be able to hack it. In his City debut at White Hart Lane, he was caught unaware by the pace of the game and lost the ball numerous times.

It's a heel turn.

By his standard, I thought he was quite poor last season and the season before. Certainly still a good player, but he looked like he was getting beyond his peak from the two title winning seasons under Mancini and Pellegrini. He's right back on it now, his game looks different, and has more off the ball involvement than before, and also seems to find himself in striker's positions as well as deep central midfield. He's everywhere.

He is one of the most difficult players to dispossess, up there with Messi and Isco. When pressed, he just dances around them with ease. He's so agile and quick over those short distances, despite not really having any real pace.

The little shit.

It's not new at all, though.

I always thought his hair the way it was, was pretty good to begin with?
Nah, look at his hairline, it was very clearly receding. The good thing for him was, he had a lot of nice hair pretty much everywhere else and was a fine candidate for the transplant.

When have you seen Silva put himself about against us like he did on Sunday?

There was a pocket of play where he made yellow offence after yellow offence without them being called. I had to do a double-take to make sure that was D.Silva

Stats also aren't going to tell you how hard a player is going into tackles, do you think he's had the same kind of bite in seasons gone by?

Sounds like many on here are subconsciously on the point of adopting City as their second team, some real Stockholm syndrome stuff going on. That club are fecking us up psychically and -admit it- it's turning you on.

Guardiola's teams do not make many tackles and interceptions anyway because they have a lot of possession. They work very hard off the ball but their work rate cannot be measured adequately through tackles and interceptions. Before Guardilola and in his first season at City they were making more tackles and interceptions than now. Their defensive work is of a different nature than that of most teams.

I agree that he works probably harder but it is not mainly about tackles.
