Inspired by an amusing Shane Watson vs Garfield Sobers thread on another forum, I've looked up the test stats for a number of the greatest all rounders of all time after they'd played their first 14 matches, which is the tally Shakib's career stands at now. Of course Shakib's stats are slightly inflated by the recent series against West Indies' C team, but I'd also suggest that they're definitely also slightly deflated by his being part of the most hapless team in history. Although maybe I'm being charitable.

He's scored more runs than every single player on that list!

His batting average compares favourably to all bar Sobers, Botham and Dev.

He's taken more wickets than everyone other than Khan, Botham and Hadlee.

His bowling average is better than every single player other than Botham.

His bowling strike rate is better than every single player other than Botham and Hadlee.

Now I am, of course, in now way suggesting he'll turn out to be as good as these blokes but it looks as though our wonderkid doesn't compare too badly at all, does he?

Anyway it seems people just don't really care about Bangladeshi Cricketers. Wait to see how he goes against some of the bigger sides.
 
They are very promising cricketers. Especially the spinners. All they need is exposure to top sides, and getting into the grind. Unfortunately, most top sides dont care to give them regular fixtures.

I am aware you already know that Shakib Al Hasan is a muslim..and you can twist facts to coroborate anything you like.... you need to get a life mate. This is a non issue for me so I'm not even going to continue this.... I will say that I don't think you like it though. You probably think us 'coloured' folk are stealing all your women, taking all your jobs and selling drugs to your kids. He's played against the biggers sides in 12 of those 14 tests. The guy's a freak.

Sobers started test cricket when he was 17, as a slow left armer, so you wouldn't expect his numbers to be very high in his first few tests.
