I have not watched it, nor the first one either. Only watched a couple of episodes of the series due to ahem..necessity.

But I have somehow ended up reading some reviews of the latest flick. Some scathing but ridiculously hilarious review out there.

Page 2 - "Sex and the City 2": Ladies and gentlemen, THIS is why they hate us. - Reviews - News - IFC.com

"Never does "Sex and the City 2" acknowledge, even obliquely, that what Carrie and her pals consider "normal" and "comfortable" is not only foreign to the existence of 99% of the population, but that it might in fact be a sign of obscene excess, the spiritual equivalent of carrying around 200 extra pounds -- mountains of fat produced by an unhealthy upbringing and an addictive, soul-dead, self-loathing mindset, fat that cannot be characterized as a matter of genetic destiny no matter how desperately the afflicted person tries to rationalize it as such. When I watch these women sashay through their designer-labeled lives, I don't see escapism: I see pools of bloody runoff gathered in the gutters of a diner's grill. That shit'll kill you.

At certain moments, "Sex and the City 2" goes so far beyond mere wealth porn that it tips into a sci-fi/fantasy mindset, presenting setpieces so glitzy, so overscaled and so unhinged that they seem like something that Sacha Baron-Cohen's Bruno might have fantasized in an opium den. A couple of examples spring to mind."

This is just gold

Best one line review ever-

"If this is what modern womanhood means, then just fecking veil me and sew up all my holes. Good night"

or this one

"This is an entirely inappropriate length for what is essentially a home video of gay men playing with giant Barbie dolls"

I am almost tempted to watch the movie now, almost...

SATC2 takes everything that I hold dear as a woman and as a human—working hard, contributing to society, not being an entitled cnut like it's my job—and rapes it to death with a stiletto that costs more than my car.

I think the show can be decent.

The first film was shit though, and I won't be watching this one.

I can not stop myself

"Some of these people make my skin crawl."

"movie's visual style is arthritic. Director Michael Patrick King covers the sitcom dialogue by dutifully cutting back and forth to whoever is speaking. A sample of Carrie's realistic dialogue in a marital argument: "You knew when I married you I was more Coco Chanel than coq au vin." Carrie also narrates the film, providing useful guidelines for those challenged by its intricacies. Sample: "Later that day, Big and I arrived home."

More:

"a self-indulgent whimper"; "a sad, puffy mess"; "a home video of gay men playing with giant Barbie dolls"; "a stupid movie that's offensive to virtually everyone"; "an epic eyesore."

Being a woman, I did watch the SATC series and it was quite good. I saw the first movie and it was quite good. I saw the 2nd movie and it wasn't so good.

Very disappointing, far too long and not much of a storyline. Not enough of Smith or Aiden in it, but thank god for Mr.Big
