1. Glad that we seems to be able to score a lot of goal again, thanks for Fergie's offsensive formation. If it is 4-5-1 today, we definitely won't be able to score so much goals.

2. If we need to play well in EPL, Veron must be dropped and Scholes return to midfield. Scholes was once again our best midfielder and his passing, shooting, work rate, everything was just terrific. Without Veron slows down our play, we play much more free-flowing and the true United has come back.

3. Why Silverstre still hasn't been offered a new contract? Please act quick Fergie.

4. Diego was excellent today with two great assists. It seems he has really settled in with us now.

5. Our captain was right again. Injury is never an excuse. Today we showed that with the right formation, tactic and fighting spirit, we can still beat nearly every opponent in the league.

How do you work that one out? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Newcastle is not a bad team. They go into the second round of the CL and has also improved lot in PL recently. Yet if not for our defence careless, we should have beaten them 5-1 today. If we keep up today's performance, i don't think there are many teams in the league can stop us.

If Forlan can keep up that sort of display then fair enough. But to say he's settled in, is a little overenthusiastic. 2 goals is hardly a return on 8 million or so and PLENTY of chances.

He's going to prove very useful, but maybe not as a striker.

Henrik Larsson will do that. :)

What I said as "settled" is not only due to his 2 goals. Still remembered earlier he just found it difficult to keep up the pace of English game and hold the ball, let alone using the ball wisely. But today he kept the ball very well, didn't brothered by Newcastle's hard defenders, and has made two very good assists. That's why I said he seems get used to the pace and style of EPL games.

was very pleased with Fortune today.. he worked hard in midfield and gave us the physical presence we have sorely lacked recently.

Yep, his physical presence came as a pleasant surprise. Fortune can hold the ball up very well indeed.

Dont get to carried away, games with Newcastle are always very open, free flowing games. We still let in 3 goals, we shouldnt be all that happy.

Where we are struggling is when we play tight, well organised teams like Middlesbrough.

But a good result non-the-less, and i was happy to see a bit more passion out there, my only complaint is that every game should be played with that type of passion, it shouldnt be reserved for just the big games.

we played with hunger, and determination, which was epitomised by ole running down the wings with great dedication...

we were playing fast, one touch, football...and more importantly created alot of chances, mostly from the wings, which has been a missing ingredient from our play over the last 2 years...

long way to go, yes, but we're headin' in the right direction... i know we drew last week, but i felt there were good signs, especially in the first half, in that match....

liverpool next week...

bring on the gypsies, i say.. <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

Just got back from the match. A few thoughts:

Ole - What wonderful work by Ole for that first goal. (How DID he control that ball?) Can't wait to see it again on TV tonight.

Silvestre - I was on his side of the pitch the first half and I thought he was fantastic in that first half. Haven't always been his biggest fan and I think he's had some poor matches recently. But in that first half, he was like a man possessed. Fought for every ball, went in hard with his tackles and created a wonderful goal for Ruud.

Great to see the first two goals created from the wings. (Haven’t had enough of that this year.) And it was Ole and Silvestre’s names that got sung after the first two goals…but deservedly so.

Great to see Ruud get his hat-trick. They may not be the hardest goals he'll ever have to score, but he still had to be at the right place at the right time...and he seems to have a knack of doing that. That's 4 matches in a row now that he’s scored (counting Holland's friendly). Hopefully, this is the beginning of another great scoring run for him.

I thought Scholesy was absolutely immense today. With all the injuries and our lack of a real leader on the pitch, we’ve really needed someone to step forward and assume responsibility for a match. I thought he picked up that mantle today. He was everywhere...scoring, putting in tackles, doing anything and everything that needed to be done. What a performance by the Ginger Prince.

Diego didn't score. But did you see that look of delight on his face when he fed Ruud his last goal? He's such an unselfish player. Just had a feeling that if he played today, he would create goals for us.

Fergie - Don't know what he said to the players this week but it obviously worked. Especially that first half, I felt like I was watching the United of old.

Was a bit nervous after he took Ruud off. We seemed to lose our momentum. And that last 20 minutes seemed to last an hour. But we got all 3 points, so I can’t be overly fussy.

I don’t know what’s going to happen in the next few weeks. But it was great today to see the real Manchester United again.

Is it because he want to show what he can do in order to earn a new contract? I certainly think we must extend his contract. I don't know why Fergie would want him to leave. Even if we got Escude, is Fergie really sure that he will definitely better than Micky?

I think he's been off his game for the past month or so and I actually thought that the contract talks were distracting him. But he was a different player yesterday. I have no idea what got him going. The thing that stuck out for me in yesterday's match wasn't what he did so much as how he did it... He really battled yesterday and played with a lot of determination.
