Marco Senna has been told he can leave Villarreal this summer - and the Brazilian is keen for a crack at the Premier League.

The 34-year-old came very close to signing for Manchester United before Sir Alex Ferguson dropped his bid at the last minute in favour of Owen Hargreaves back in 2007.:o

The combative midfielder remained at Villarreal - where he has been since 2002 - but the La Liga club are keen to reinvigorate their squad this summer, with Senna an expected casualty.

His contract expires at the end of this month and he will be available on a free, although he will command high wages.

Shitty then?

Great player in his prime, what a thing hindsight is :(

Team like Liverpool could do well with him - cover for a very thin central midfield.

too old now for us, but scay thing is he still be a better option than carrick and fletcher

It's too late in the day for a move to United, but a few years back he was an absolute beast of a player. Was gutted when we signed Hargo because even then I always believed Senna would have been the better option. Cheaper too.

yup we should have got him instead of Hargreaves, from memory he would have only cost us about 4 mil

I'm not kidding, i seriously think we should consider getting him as a stop get if we can't buy any midfielders this summer

Villareal have decided to offer him a new contract now but don't know if he is going to accept it.
