A few people mentioned to me recently that they didn't think Seinfeld was funny. What is wrong with these people?

george is funny enough but seinfeld, kramer and elaine are just annoying.

not worth watching.

The best show ever, the most intelligent and funny in TV history

Dont get me wrong Im a MASSIVE Seinfeld fan - "Lupus?!?!?.... Is it Lupus!?!?" but the best show in history is The Simpons - for its unique ability to make people from the ages of 5-35 cackle with laughter in equal amounts...

400 episodes and counting....

Never saw the appeal myself, the little fat guy seemed reasonably funny but the others just got on my nerves. The little bits of stand up were bloody awful.

seinfeld's ok, but nothing great. i just cant understand why so many people rave about it. maybe its a generation thing?

The Simpsons have been fecking shit for years now.

curb is easily better than Seinfeld. I saw this documentary which is also there in Youtube where Seinfeld, Larry David, Geirge Shapiro, NBC execs, Alexander, Louis-Dreyfus and Richards comment about its making. It was designed to be in the same way as Curb was where one camera would follow Seinfeld around in his day to day routine and then things were to be derived from that. But it wasn't commercial and that was the reason Larry David eventually gave in and quit because he had to fight hard for his creativity.

That doesn't mean Seinfeld's not funny mind. It is largely observational humour than some situational dialogue driven one. You have to power through the earlier seasons to enjoy its eventual brilliance

One of, if not the, cleverest and most intelligent US comedies ever made and with the brilliance that the US brings to sit coms. Truly excellent.

I have seen very litle of Curb Your Enthusiams but if it is a patch on Seinfeld then I will love it.

Soap was also a good us comedy/sit com but that was 20 odd years ago.

Watch it, CYE I mean. Being a massive Seinfeld fan, it was always be better fo rme but I see why many consider CYE better, it is a refined version of Seinfeld and has a more realistic feel to it.

maybe so...but at its best was funnier, more intelligent, better written and more subversive than seinfeld could dream of being.

they stopped making seinfeld so that comparison is a bit off...if they continued i bet there would have been a tailing off also...same with any comedy that goes on too long.

For the first six seasons or so it was excellent, then some of the less talented writers came in and it focused more on guest stars and making Homer stupider and stupider, it's completely unwatchable now.

so nine seasons = about 20 truly funny episodes and the rest just barely raising a smile.

IMO

I`m a big Curb fan but could never really get into Seinfeld. I`d just watch the odd episode when it was on. However, I had an operation recently and I`m in the middle of a 4 week absence from work. My brother has lent me his DVD boxset of the first nine seasons of the show (turns out there are 10) to pass the time and it fecking rules. You just need to kick back, get into the characters and watch a bunch of them on the run. All the main characters are awesome and Elaine was gorgeous. Only one slight annoyance - Jerry`s a Mets fan and he has a Met cap on the wall near his window but the odd episode has a Yankees cap there instead.

I loved that show! Seinfeld is amazing, too. Wibble, you would love Curb your Enthusiasm it's like Seinfeld with cursing.

I'd put that down to Larry David.

Seinfeld does take time to get into. It really starts to kick off in S3. You can actually see that Larry David tried to do the first season of Seinfeld the same way as Curb but did not succeed.

Not sure I've ever seen an episode of Seinfeld, and if I have I don't remember anything about it. But I love Curb your Enthusiasm so I should give it a go I suppose

Seinfeld is a good show but Curb has it beat by miles
anyone who says otherwise clearly hasnt watched both shows enough

I think Seinfeld is proper rubbish.

Seinfeld is great. Kramer, George and Newman are brilliant.

The show is classic one of the best sitcoms in the past 20 years bar none, in the US Seinfeld was ranked #1, in the UK Frasier was hahahah, not saying Frasier was bad but come on
