Been impressed when I have seen him in the past,a bit old I know but could do a job for a season or two in my opinion. This would buy some time for one or two of the young guns to prove themselves, would not cost a fortune either.Come on bring it on and slag me off,but just a thought.:):):)

No.

/thread.

He only improves the midfield in terms of quantity....not quality. Is it really what you'd want to waste £8m + 60k wages on?

hes a better player than one or two of our current midfield players, plus it looks like fletch is going to be out for a bit, fergie would get that little bit extra out of him..

I'd rather have Gibson any day of the week over him.

Really? You think Gibson is a better player than Parker?

Not saying Parker would be my ideal signing but he is far better in every way than Gibbo.

Yep, he's available on loan for the season isn't he. He could definitely do a job for us as a stop gap as we've currently only 1 holding midfielder. In a seasons time maybe one of the young players would be more likely then to make the step up.

Gibson flatters to deceive,I never feel as thou he"s in the game.On a few occasions last year he drifted right out of certain games,he seems to hold his position well but nothing seems to happen. All he has is a wonderful shot on him but he"s that slow defenders seem to be closing him down very quickly.Ole solskjaer once described him as a ferrari that sometimes forgets to come out of the garage.Perfect discription IMO.

Why are you lot not happy unless we are spending trillions on big name players, what we have done is buy phil jones who could be the new anchor man in midfield playing just in front of the back 4,this then frees up carrick who is a wonderful passer of a ball,we have anderson who has to improve this year I agree,Park,Fletch,Giggsy,Young,Valencia and the mr rooney who is alot more comfortable playing in the deeper role,Then we have the young uns,I bet a pound to a pinch of shit that one of those youg guns ends up a regular in our midfield by the end of next season.

Same here. Gibson owned him in terms of passing & possession etc when we played West Ham at Upton Park last season.

As someone already said he'd only improve us in terms of quantity.

We should be aiming higher than the likes of Scott Parker.

Yep, I'd take him.

Certainly take him over Gibson 10 times out of 10.

Indeed. If we're not going to sign a superstar like Sneijder, Modric or Nasri then I'd rather we replaced Gibson with Parker, despite the relative ages.

Let get Joey Barton too, he's could be the new Roy Keane.

If we're not getting Sniejder, Modric or Nasri I'd be happy with this. He's a pretty good player, certainly better than the likes of Fletcher and Gibson, and they get a lot of games for us. He won't improve the first team, but with Fletcher being knackered from this virus we're an injury to Carrick away from being in a very difficult situation in the midfield.

The guy is (almost) 31 years old and has only ever looked good in mediocre sides like Charlton and West Ham. No thanks.

I'd take him on loan for the season as a stop-gap if we don't get anyone else. He's ahead of Carrick internationally...

Given how the England team is picked that means feck all.

Every year we get shit like this, Scott fecking Parker like, come on...

I'd rather we kept Gibbo than get him, think Gibbo would offer alot more this year.

And would have continuing losing it if Vidic had been sent off as he should have been. Parker was piss poor throughout though.

So if not other midfielder was available some of you still would'nt take him? Even considering our central midfield situation?

There is no point selling Gibbo and bringing in Parker. In that case, if it were a loan idea as you suggested, keep Gibbo until Jan. Problem solved.

We are looking long term signings (or 2+ years), hence the depatures.

I'd take him in a flash. With the amount of question marks over our centre midfielders (whether it be age, loss of form, illness etc.) i think he'd certainly do a job as a stop gap. We'd be fecked if Carrick picked up an injury as we've no-one else that is experienced playing infront of the back 4.

I think this is what most are overlooking.

If we don't get our targets then I don't see why a season loan would hurt. Even if its only for the 'numbers'
