OK he's 28 (I think) but he strikes me as being a good solid midfield player.

I'm not one for getting all wrapped in with who we should & shouldn't sign but I thought he was worth a punt when he was at Charlton after Keane left.

He didn't really get to grips with Chelsea but many players didn't and at Newcastle he was fighting for half the team. Player of the year at West Ham last season and he's been been right up there in terms of appearances over the last few years.

Anderson & Fletcher can ruffle a few feathers as can Hargreaves when fit but I just wondered if he'd be a that kind of gritty ball winning tackler that seems to be missing ?

At Charlton Parker was actually pretty fecking good. He ruined his career by going to Chelsea, that and injuries too.

Always liked Parker, got a lot of fight in him.

Moved there in 1978 aged 7.

Got me near enough to OT so no complaints about growing up there.

Up in Scotland since 96 so obviously get to less games now.

Shiesty

I only know because Ashley Peacock from corrie is from there, me and him had a chat once and he mentioned where he was from was nice news.

He might have developed better at United than Chelsea considering the talent ahead of him at Chelsea versus the likes of Djemba, Kleberson and Miller at United at the time. But he'd probably have been shipped out by now.

Villa would do well to get him to fill a Barry shaped hole, though the idea he could do a job for you is a stretch to far considering the players he'd consistently have to keep out of the side.

You're probably right - at that time he'd have been a decent signing for £10m

Kleberson was about £7m ?

Djemba about £3.5m ?

Miller was free I think ?

 I think you just plucked a name out of a hat and that name happened to be "Scott Parker".

Did you think this was a Wigan forum?

West Ham have rejected a bid from Tottenham for midfielder Scott Parker.

The 29-year-old England international, who has three years left on his contract, has been linked with a move away from Upton Park.

But Hammers chairman David Sullivan told the club website that Parker is not for sale at any price.

"I made a promise that I would not sell Scott and I will not, for any amount of money, break that promise to the West Ham supporters," he said.

"Scott is not for sale at any price, to anyone. West Ham supporters, for far too long, have had owners that sell their best players and promise one thing and do another.

"This is a new era. We are building a bigger, better West Ham and when we make a promise, we honour it."

Parker joined the Hammers from Newcastle in 2007 for £7m and had moved to the Magpies two years earlier in a £6.5m switch from Chelsea.

West Ham reiterated the stance of their chairman over Parker's future and a statement read: "The club would like to state that regardless of the size of the bid, nothing will break the promise that chairman David Sullivan made to our supporters.

"As repeatedly stated, Scott Parker is not for sale and there are no circumstances and no amount of money that will cause us to break that pledge to the fans.

"The club informed Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy prior to him making the offer that we would not welcome any approach to unsettle the player.

"Scott Parker has three years left on his contract and the club has opened talks with his agent over a new five-year deal."

Parker, who missed out on a place in England's World Cup squad for this summer's final in South Africa, returned to club action last Friday against Panathinaikos.

He captained the side and played for 45 minutes in the 1-0 win over the Greek outfit.

In fairness, pre-Chelsea he was one of the most hotly tipped as a Keano replacement on here, and he wouldn't be a bad squad player. A bit pointless though.

He was the bollocks before he went to Chelsea. Could definitely see the resemblance to Keane.

No he wasn't Vuc he was the best player for Charlton (Yes I know that's not saying much) but I think he only regressed because of his stupidity to go to Chelsea at a time while they were signing big names.. He was hardly going to get a look in there..

He was more than Charlton's best player... He was one of the leagues best players at his peak with Charlton.

It wasn't a smart move, then again how many people are ever going to get ahead of Makelele in that position?

Thing is, he had far more all-around game than playing the Makelele role. He was wasted at Chelsea, Mourinho didn't like him and signed Thiago, then Parker got crocked, never really played and shipped out later. I'd wager things would have been different had SAF or Wenger got him.

You know I just re-read your earlier post and I don't know why but I read it as:

He was the bollocks before he went to Chelsea. Could definitely see the resemblance to Keane. (Sarcasm)

I do too. He was a much different and better player before he went to Chelsea.
