Well, at least the best non-brazilian because he gave Becks his vote for the 2002 worldplayer award and he couldn`t vote for players of his nation. By the way Becks finished 8th. Better then any other United player.
Nice to see he gets still the respect in the world of football, he doesn`t get on this forum for some time. :D

And guy from Madras your comment a few days ago: "Well if Becks would be from Brazil he would go unnoticed." Well the man who managed Brazil to the 5th worldcup thinks otherwise. Love it :D

I think the Euro Footballer of the year is more attributed to footballing ability than the world player of the year. Van Basten was nominated for the WPY award 5 years after he had retired.

Scolari just wanted to thank him for wimping out of that touchline tackle that set up the move for Brazil's first game.

Becks is a good player - but he is not the best in the world - and 2001/2 was a pretty mediocre year for him.

Wonder if someone will post that Scolari is a big fan of OK magazine. That`s no joke some muppets really said last year that becks was only runners up because he got many votes from small countries managers who are reading that magazine. :rolleyes:

I wasn't really being serious - but still don't think the Becks of 2001/2 was anywhere near world class - though he was beginning to look good before the injury against Deportivo.

He deserves much more respect than he gets.
