it seems he's getting in to the swing of things. He's looked our best player recently, and has been the driving force behind our midfield, I think he can inspire the team. I'd give him the captain's armband when Keane or Becks isnt around. He says he will give the 4-4-1-1 role another go. He has a superb attitude, we should be building a team around this fella, not fixing it to suit Seba as some think.

Cannot agree more. He has been fantastic, and some of his passing was brilliant against city. Even helped setup the goal with a crunching tackle in midfield. There arent many attacking midfielders better than him at present. The city match also highlighted how much we miss David Beckham even in the poor form he is in. I'm pretty sure we would not have lost if he was in the side. Some of his much criticised "roaming" around the field would have helped in this match IMO.

your theory sounds very much possible IMO. There were really not a lot of ball winners in midfield in that game for us and Beckham being there could've maybe lessened the blow..

I love Scholes.

Unfair maybe but after Sparky went, it seemed that the arrival of Andy Cole might mean the departure of Scholes as well. I never forgave him for it. Well unfair definitely I suppose, but I would have chosen both Scholes and Sparky over Coley.

Sparky was the kind of player anyone would love to watch. Superb at keeping the ball and laying it off - scores some really magical goals and a team player. However, I think Andy Cole contributed in a way only he can. His movement is top class - and his goal record says it all - 2nd highest goal scorer in Premierships history I think which is exceptional ! We have missed him since he left to Blackburn ! But, if I had to make a choice it would have been Sparky and Scholes over Cole.
