Scholes

The reason is obvious. He is now in danger of becoming the 6th midfielder and he definitely don't like it.

The pressure is really on him, he's now behind Butt and Veron in the pecking order, he knows that he's got to start scoring goals again.

I think the reason Slasher and Crusher (Scholes and Butt) went on pissed off against Boca were 2 incidents, 1 Rio's injury which probably wasn't the argie's fault but you cant tell that from the bench. 2 an incident where Ruud fell to the ground with the ball and his defender kept kicking him brutally (or so it seemed).

It's classic mind-games by Fergie to be honest. There's nothing wrong with a bit of competition for places, it will get the best out of the players.

I know you are going to hate me but I think the 2 central midfielders that would start if I was the manager are Scholes and Butt, just like in the World Cup. Then Veron coming in for Butt in the second half, and the last in the pecking order would be Keane.
I love Keane but he has off the field problems and also Butt and Scholes were superb in the World Cup.

Nah... Keane has to start for the big games. No one picks the team up like our Roy

what tha F*** are you mc carthy supporters in disguise???????

leave keane out????, he symbolises fergie on the pitch, the gaffer said so.

all players have problem's now and then, but that never let Keano give 120% every game, wether fit or not.

I said you were going to hate me but that is what "I" think, that is why I am not the manager and Sir Alex is, but I really think Scholes and Butt should start.
That is just me

The fact remains that we fail to control the midfield in too many CL games during the last 3 campaigns, regardless of who plays. No one is God. With the players SAF has to chose from, there is no excuse why any combination doesn't perform to standard.

scholes can and has played much better than he did last season including his england games. partly fergies fault for the failed experiment of scholes and RVN but still...

He needs to find his groove again.

He was a bit naughty on Saturday.

:D

Well I'm not going to hate anyone who is just innocent. Butt was very good in the WC and Scholes was just okay. But no matter what, they can't replace the best defensive midfielder in the world and the most consistent performer of Manchester United in recent years.

It's a fair point. However, I don't agree. I think that Keano offers us something else, not just physically but mentally. Think of the times when he wasn't around, take the 97/98 season for example. We just have more edge about us when Keano is there, after all, he's our captain.
