Arsenal - The IMMortals.....Sounds very nice ( and
I have noticed no thread/posts concerning the Scholes not being fit for the Middlesbro game and ( England )

"For, after being told influential midfielder Paul Scholes would not have recovered from an ankle injury in time to be considered for Saturday's friendly with Portugal, Sven- Goran Eriksson turned up to see someone bearing a remarkable resemblance to the flame-haired assassin filling Keane's not inconsiderable boots"

Anyone have any thoughts about this or is this 'okay'?

From the things Eriksson and Fergie say (rather than the bullshit the media likes to write), there seems to be nothing wrong there.

You seems interested in anything United? What's up ?

So you have to be a Utd fan exclusively here yeah. ?

I'm a football fan first and that's it, I like to find out about football from allover , it's the only way to arrive at an accurate assessment of what's going on in the game IMO.

It's always intersting and fun to find out what other fans are thinking and why outside of the 'we are the greatest' basics.

Must say I am always surprised when some supporters think of just one club ,just one player, just one whatever .

Take the wider view and it can be quite enlightening .

but unfortunately your recent post have been more of a wind-up lately so naturally others (like me) will presume you have something up your sleve whenever you post something about United.

and I agree with what Amir wrote, no problem there.

There's no question there. Fergie's only priority is Manchester United, not sabotaging England.

Whether he pulled one on Eriksson with Scholes I don't know, but I do feel Scholesy probably played through the pain barrier (he didn't complete 90 mins, did he?) and was better off away from a pointless friendly.

Club over country. It´s as simple as that ...

You didn't notice <a href="http://www.redcafe.info//ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008409&p=" target="_blank">this thread</a> then?

Given Sven's proclivity for half time substitutions, he lost Scholes for 45 minutes at the most. Considering he needed to give Lee Bowyer a run out, it probably made no difference to him practically as to whether or not Scholes was fit.

The papers are making a mountain out of a mole hill as usual.

On Jimmy Hill's progamme this morning, they went to great pains to stress that SAF had actually told Sven that both Scholes and Beckham could join the England squad, even if they were unable to play.

Surprisingly, they seemed to come down on the side of Fergie in this instance.

Could be embarrassing for a lot of people who have jumped on the bandwagon if this turns out to be more a case of Sven in the wrong than Fergie.

Here's a link to the soccernet story saying that Fergie had offered to have Scholes/Becks join up with the England squad. Given this story, I'm not sure what all the media fuss has been about.

<a href="http://www.soccernet.com/england/news/2002/0908/20020908engsvenfergie.html" target="_blank">http://www.soccernet.com/england/news/2002/0908/20020908engsvenfergie.html</a>

Even Sven accepted that when he was a club coach he didn't like his players to go for international friendlies.

What's the problem with this then? It was a friendly match, and SAF didn't want to gamble Scholes since he was doubtful and also since Man Utd has so many injuries...

Nothing more to say about is and please stop reading shit things from the newspaper... :p
