Schmeichel's son joins Man City

Manchester City have signed Peter Schmeichel's 15-year-old son Kasper on a long-term contract.
The teenage goalkeeper's deal covers schoolboy, scholar and professional terms.

Schmeichel senior, 38, is seeing out his playing days at Maine Road and has been so impressed by the City set-up that he encouraged his son to join.

He said: "I've found the club to be very well organised, with professional people, great coaching staff and a terrific manager.

"I'm thrilled Kasper is going to be part of all this. I know he's really excited about what the future may hold for him here.

"My wife and I are delighted my son has impressed the management and staff enough to be offered such a wonderful opportunity.

"And we're equally delighted that Kasper will make his first steps to achieving his football ambitions with Manchester City."

Keegan beat off inquiries from other clubs to snap up 6ft-tall Schmeichel junior.

He told the club's website: "I'm delighted Kasper has joined us - and by offering him this deal, it's obvious we think highly of his ability.

"If he continues to work as hard as he has done so far, he may even be able to follow in his father's footsteps."

If he end up being anywhere near as good as his father he'll be a great keeper.

He's joining United to win the treble and then retire at City then.

Why! He is so passionate about the game and he loves football. I remember when he was at Villa and when we played them, he started to celebrate when Villa scored!

Pablo Forlan played for Uruguay. His son plays for them now. Bojan Djorjic's father played for Yugoslavia and Bojan is tipped to play for Sweden one day.
