I've watched so many horror movies that i'm immune to them now. I find it really tough to get scared these days. So i'm probably not the best judge.
If you want Blood and guts and a bit of comedy go with one of Peter Jacksons movies from early in his career like Brain Dead or Bad taste.
The exorcism of Emily Rose is pretty spooky as well especially as most horror movies these days are shit!

I'm pretty immune to "scary" also , i've seen quite a few old "b movies" and some of them are good , especially THE BURNING , i watched that sarah michelle gellar one on itv the other night , Grudge ? Average film at best IMO but i was actually kinda scared/freaked out.

At first watching, it's one of the best horrors, imo.
Agreed, I don't usually find horrors scary but that is one of the scariest I've seen.
The Orphanage is a good watch, Spanish film.
