Samir Nasri's agent claims the Arsenal midfielder is set to hold further contract talks with Arsene Wenger in a bid to resolve his future.

The Frenchman, who is out of contract with the Gunners next July, has been heavily linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium this summer.

Arsenal boss Wenger has made it clear he wants to keep Nasri in North London and has no intention of selling him to fierce rivals Manchester United, who are thought to be chasing his signature.

Reports suggest the France international has shunned contract talks with the Gunners until he is satisfied their transfer targets are of the required standard to mount a title bid next term.

However, Nasri's representative Alain Migliaccio claims negotiations are ongoing and expects the player to meet with Wenger in the near future.

"There are a few clubs interested in Samir, but it is useless to name them. Before listening to other teams, we need and we want to talk with Arsenal. "

He told calciomercatoweb: "I want to clarify that there has been no break with the Gunners over the contract's renewal and we should meet again soon with Arsene Wenger."

Migliaccio also moved to play down speculation linking Nasri with a move away from the Emirates, with Inter Milan the latest club thought to be interested.

He added: "There are a few clubs interested in Samir, but it is useless to name them.

"Before listening to other teams, we need and we want to talk with Arsenal."

According to the latest market rumors reported by "The Independent", Sir Alex Ferguson wants to buy Arsenal French midfielder Samir Nasri strong. The player is out of contract next June and Wenger do not want to lose him on a free transfer. However, the Gunners are trying to convince the former OM player to renew and remain as the Emirates, having regard to the probable departure of Fabregas, Nasri, but does not seem very convinced and wants to win trophies elsewhere. Here is the track United, with Ferguson who prefers the trans Dutchman Wesley Sneijder and is ready to offer almost 23 million for its purchase.

City set to clinch Clichy but deny move for Nasri

SOCCER: MANCHESTER CITY are confident that the Arsenal left-back Gael Clichy will become their first signing of the summer, but they have distanced themselves from reports they are also trying to persuade Arsenal into a €22 million deal for Samir Nasri.

The two clubs have agreed a €7.5 million fee for Clichy and the player is expected to arrive in Manchester early next week. But there have been no talks about Nasri’s potential availability and none are planned.

Nasri, who has been prominently linked with a move to Manchester United, has one year left on his contract and City are monitoring him as a possible back-up option for later in the summer. However, their interest has never gone beyond that point and City are bemused by reports they have been closing in on a deal with the player’s agent and club.

City will be relieved to conclude the deal for Clichy, who was the subject of a €5.5 million bid from Liverpool last week, after a difficult start to their summer transfer business that saw them concede defeat to Barcelona in the signing of Udinese striker Alexis Sanchez.

Reports in respected French newspaper L'Equipe claim that Arsenal have failed to reach an agreement with Samir Nasri over a contract extension and could now be ready to consider letting him move on. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Inter Milan have all been linked with a move for the France international.

Wenger says duo will stay

"Yes, why not?" said Wenger on Sky Sports News when asked about the prospects of Nasri and Fabregas staying.

"You asked me two different questions. One, will he (Nasri) be at the club next season? I say yes.

"The second part, will he sign a new contract? I hope yes, but I'm not the only one who decides that.

"There is always speculation when the player has a one-year contract to go and has not signed a new contract that he might leave the club, but Samir Nasri is very happy at the club and he is committed to stay at the club.

"Cesc loves the club. We know the story from Barcelona goes on for years now, but hopefully we will be able to close that for ourselves to focus on the season, hopefully with Cesc Fabregas."
