Britons spend more time watching TV soaps than they do with their own families, says a study from ITV.com. Almost half of those surveyed know more about their favourite soaps than they do about what is going on in the lives of friends and family. Apparently soap-mad Britons spend an average of 275 minutes a week in front of the box, but just 90 minutes of 'quality time' with their partner or family.

Doesn't surprise me, most of the people who watch soaps believe that it counts as actually spending 'quality time' with the family...

Family is the most important part of life for me.

When I have my own they will be second to no-one, and they will always come first.

i dont watch any....though the wife always watches neighbours and emmerdale.

I don't see as much as my family as I should when I'm at home.

Thats more to do with work and other commitments, its a rather disappointing to be honest and a shame we can't spend more time together, as while at uni I often go up to 12 weeks without seeing them.

Even worse is that people actually watch Big Brother.
