This guy's contract will be running out pretty soon, I doubt he wants to stay at Liverpool, if he can leave on a free will anybody wants? With proper training can we heal him?
He is just 23. I still see potential

NO! he was a good talent a few years ago before Benitez got his hands on him and did what he usually does with talent ie destroy it!

Weve got far better players on the books already and i dont see where Babel fits in at all, hes quick and has a mean shot but i honestly dont think he offers much else, hes not a very clever footballer hes very rout 1 i.e 'run as fast as i can and see what happens'.

So you think he is ruined forever? Dude is just 23 you know? It can't be too late

I just don't see what he'd offer compared to Nani, Obertan, Valencia, Bebe, Park and Giggs. Is he anything special compared to the wingers we have?

Count Giggs out for the future. Plus he comes free man. Damn how he has fallen.
But this is value right here. Ask SAF he can see value from afar.

This is definitely sink or swim time for the lad but whatever happens he needs to move to a lower profile club that will afford him opportunities to play and be indulged a little. A move to Aston Villa, anyone but Bayern in the Bundesliga, or anyone but Barca, Madrid and Atleti in La Liga could see him resurrect his career.

I feel sorry for him for going to Liverpool to work under the Sugar Monk. Wish he had stayed on at Ajax and played himself into a move to Arsenal.

He's going to become a good piece of business for whoever does pick him up. I can't see him signing a new deal at Liverpool after all. So long as his next team doesn't hinder him then he may turn it around.

You knew Babel wouldn't make it when Arsene Wenger decided not to go for him and Benitez spent £14 million on him; Wenger's a far shrewder operator.

Apparently Wenger was going to go for him, but the summer afterwards. Benitez saw this interest, and gave Ajax an offer they couldn't refuse.

We don't need wingers or strikers.

I want us to sign him and Darren Bent. We'll have an awesome trio of perpetually tweeting idiots

Is that true? I remember Arsenal came in for him and he stated himself he wasnt ready for the Premiership to only sign for Liverpool a month or two later.
I remember my mate being pissed off at that.

I swear that happened

Don't think so. He was desperate to join his mate RvP at Arsenal but Wenger wasn't keen.

Potential great player whom simply went to the wrong club. I really think the best thing to do now is to get out of England, into a bit easier league to play for him, he is 23 and he is in a hurry to evolve further.. A good club in a smaller league is where he wants to go, I really think he needs to get to a club where he knows he will be a 1st choice.

For example; Napoli, Palermo, Lazio, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Villareal, Hamburg... Perhaps a return to Holland to replace Affelay in PSV

Presumably, it's a lot of cash then!

A key word.

If they sold Young, they would have two left footers in him and Downing - meaning their current tactic with two reversed wingers whom go inwards and shoot would be lesser. With Downing doing rather well, they don't need Babel enough to spend tons on signing him. However finding a new right footer to replace Young would not be impossible, it would be harder to find a left-footer.

Jesus.

You've just talked him up as a 'potential great' and you don't even know that he's right footed, despite the fact he makes a huge effort to always cut in onto his right (has he ever done anything useful with his left?).

I thought he was left footed :wenger:. Apperently I was wrong. I do however think he has showed tendencies at times. He has a flair and a shooting foot that is rather impressive. If he ended up in a club where he would play he could have been a lot better. Under Rafa, a good appearance would mean he started the next on the bench...

Let's face it mate. Your opinions on whether Babel is some sort of future star are somewhat negated by the fact that you don't seem to have paid any attention to him whatsoever when he has actually played.

Suggesting we go for Babel at this point is like suggesting we should have gone for Pennant a few years ago.

I told you Best was overrated.
