Planetfootball: Peterboroughs Ryan Semple impressed us on trial and its now likely we will give him another chance. Article didnt say much about him, just that he played for our U-17 team against teams like Porto and Real and apparently made an impact. Did anyone see this tournament or know anything about this lad ? Chances are we could do a Gomez and sign him then send him to Antwerp for a season or two, or even loan him back to Peterborough - are they are our new feeder club ?

woah...thats spooky. There was a lad who went to school with my wee brother called Ryan Semple, who also went to Peterborough when he was about 17. Left winger, spent a few seasons there before returning back to irish league footie with firstly Derry City and now Linfield.
Strange that 2 players, with the same name both playing or played for Peterborough <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

From TribalFootball:
EXCLUSIVE: Peterborough United Under-19s trio Ryan Semple, Adam Fry and Marck Coulson were invited to join-up with Manchester United's youth side last month.
The talented three-some have now returned from Old Trafford after an enjoyable fortnight's training with some of the most able youngsters in the country.

And it was 17-year-old Ryan Semple who impressed the most, invited back a week later to participate in a tournament in Portugal against youth teams representing the likes of Real Madrid and FC Porto.

Speaking to tribalfootball.com, a spokesman for Peterborough United, Pep Cipriano, told us, "Manchester United have been keeping an eye on Ryan, Adam and Marck for a couple of months now.

"The three of them were invited to train with United for a fortnight last month and Ryan returned a week later to travel to a tournament in Portugal with them. A winger by nature, they employed him as a striker in all three games and he got on the scoresheet once."

On returning to London Road, two of the teenagers signed professional terms with Peterborough United.

"Ryan Semple and Adam Fry signed four-year professional contracts on returning from United," a delighted Cipriano confirmed.

"Manchester United have not revealed what they are to do with him (Semple) or the other two lads (Fry and Coulson)."

There is a possibility that Semple will be included in Peterborough's first-team party for today's Division Two encounter at Queens Park Rangers.
