Ibrahimovic went to PSG for about 25mil (half of the 50million they handed over for him and Silva).

Arsenal appear, according to all the reports, want about the same figure for RvP.

Both are a similar age.

So, the question, if you were spunking 25million on a 29-30 year old striker, which would you choose and why?

Ibra is a better player than RVP.

Depends what you wanted.

If you had a solid base for a team already and wanted a quality forward to make use of the quality, van Persie.

If you had a 'poor' side and wanted somebody to paper over the cracks and carry a team then Zlatan.

I know RvP does the latter too for Arsenal, but I still think Zlatan is better.

I'm still not sure about van Persie's injuries, so I would pick Ibrahimovic. Also think he is a better player.

Van Persie obviously. But with his contract situation it should cost less to buy it out than Ibrahimovic's did

Ibra has carried teams single-handedly to multiple league titles. He is also proven in multiple leagues. Ibra is also stronger, quicker, has better technique, better vision, and much better injury record/history.

Negatives for Ibra....not proven in england, more a 'cnut', not 'proven' in europe.

Positives for RvP...younger by 2 years, proven in england.

Negatives for RvP...much worse injury history and not a champion.

I'd personally spend the money on ibra (RvP would not be 25 million if he was being bought by someone outside of england whereas Ibra would be 25 million IMO anywhere he went).

Zlatan wins leagues.

Zlatan.

I honestly wouldn't want Zlatan here. I don't think he'd fit in with our style at all - very much like how Berbatov doesn't fit in.

I am not entirely sure van Persie is going fit in either, mind you.

RVP. He's proven in England, younger and I'd trust him more in bigger games. Ibrahimovic has had more success but I think Van Persies more clinical and can score good goals too. The injuries, well you can buy anyone and they injury prone. I think RVP and for me, Ibrahimovic should never cost as much as he did.

Ibrahimovic's record speaks for itself, Van Persie has had one season better than Ibra. Though unless the club was going to make that player the absolute focal point of the team, I'd opt for Van Persie.

as a player i prefer ibra.

but if we are going to sign one of them then it has to be rvp. because he is premiership proven. the risk is lesser.

RvP for me. Never rated Ibra as highly as most.

100% RVP. Definitely for this league. Ibra's been all over (which tells you something), but won leagues everywhere (which tells you something else). His goal at Euro 2012 is a sign of his undeniable talent, but the impression I'm always left with with him, is his absolute absence of consistency. Those who've watched his career will be able to correct me here, but he seems to have been stuck with a 'big game bottler' tag, and, from the little I've seen of him, I can see why.

I like Ibra, and dislike Persie, but I wouldn't buy any of them to united.

Ibra, people who say he wouldn't fit in here don't watch him enough IMO. He is nothing like berba. Honestly he's probably the best striker in the world right now. He's a much better player than van persie as well I think. Saying there is a risk with him is ridiculous, because in every league he has played in he has won trophies and always scored loads of goals. Even at Barca he scored 21 goals in his one season there, even though he was treated like shit and benched most of the time (because messi decided he wanted to play in the middle). One of the strongest forwards I've ever seen as well.

And to Liam ^, ibra used to have the big game bottler tag only by the English press, when it really isn't true. He's always been pretty consistent and in the serie a at least, he always tore Milan/inter a new one (depending on who he played for). Also for barca he scored against real Madrid in his first el Classico I'm pretty sure (a game winner). I thought the people here stopped using that big game bottler tag when he absolutely destroyed arsenal in the champions league last year?

RVP every day of the week. Ibra is suited for the Italian leagues. He is a heck of a player, but he could end up a Shevchenko over here.

At least RVP has done it in the Premier League.

Maybe not infinitely better but he definitely has more to his game, and can do things RVP could never dream of doing. He's proved that he is a world class striker all throughout his career, whereas apart from last season, can persie was always crocked for half a season.

Ibra is a better player for me, but you have to take into account his ridiculous wages. I'd have RVP over him for that reason.

I'll concede I was hung up over semantics (the infinitely better part).

I've always thought Rooney and Ibrahimovic would be a dream pairing.

Van Persie if I was picking for this United team. Rate Ibrahimovic extremely highly though - the guy is amazing at football.

I'd say they're equally talented, albeit in slightly different ways. What Ibrahimovic seemingly has over van Persie though is that rare, almost psychopathic mentality found in proper winners. Ibrahimovic is a winner: he'll win you games, and leagues (apart from Champions Leagues...). The Dutchman I'm not so sure. Perhaps Fergie can turn him into one.

Ibra is a fantastic player but wouldn't fit into the style of our team or at least based on what I've seen of him anyway, therefore RVP.

Ibramovich is the better player, but no one in their right mind would want anything to do with his agent

Ibra is quite chaotic and sometimes explosive character but absolutely great footballer... RVP is well balanced striker but has his injury days.

Tough choice but RVP is a bit more ambitious player with hunger for goals, trophies and that's exactly what we need.

RVP, easy...As a player, Ibra in a trot...but Ibra comes with massive baggage and not just his agent...He can kill team harmony or a manager's gameplan...Plays with a massive chip on his shoulder, a chip that makes him a force to reckon with but also one capable of imploding...often

RVP is great on his own but the mere fact that he is an exemplary teammate as well makes it an easy choice
