Second top scorer in the PL last season (statistically better goals per minute of play than Henry though) and the top scorer in the CL. Plus he has continued at the same rate this season.

I know he is in the top 50, but I cannot think of many more deserving cases.

Raul and Roberto Carlos are deserving cases. Ronaldo does not deserve it as he only played about 10 games all year. Zidane was good but does not deserve it more than Ruud.

Who else deserves it more?.

He's leading scorer in England at the minute.

Not bad for someone who started slowly by his standards.

How about Owen's cheat against Argentina in the WC?

such a sad cnut

There is isn't a hope of Ruud being named European footballer of the year, for one simple reason, he didn't play in the world cup.

Why do you think the likes of Ronaldo are even nominated?

Zidane didn't play much either...

You should learn to condemn his blatant cheating rather than pretend its not happening..

RVN = top player and cheat

He dives no more Heskey, Owen and Diouf.

But then thats all those three are good for.

assuming you watch our games and im sure you watch ours more than your own and you seem to want to get across your opinion that ruud is a cheat could you fill us in and tell us when and where?

He quite clearly does..

Heskey and Owen go exeragate a fall on occasion when fouled, as many strikers do..

Diouf rolls around like a tart when fouled, which makes me cringe..

Van Divealrooy performs a perfect swan when he isn't touched.....

davo if you keep saying it does that make it true?

is that what your inbred parents told you to at xmas?

present your facts or shut the feck up!

who was the dobber that said both vieiri (dodgy italian dockworker) and crespo (dodgy handbag designer) are better then ruud?
whoever, it's just not true am afraid. :)

facts? what facts?

van nistelrooy is an embarrassing diver.

so is el hadji diouf.

i wish they'd both pack it in as personally, i think less of the pair of them for doing it.

thing is ruud has already proved he's got more to offer than the Dying Swan act - Diouf hasnt.

The fact that he does it makes it true, not that I'm saying it..

Are you saying you've never seen Diverlrooy go down like he's been shot, when he hasn't been touched?

Surely thats not what you're saying..

you're right, diouf hasn't yet.

so you admit van nistelrooy does in fact dive then?

;)

f'chrissakes, he does it every game!

against city it was cringeworthy.

it looks all the worse because he's such a big, physical player. . .he holds the ball up superbly when he wants to, so when he throws himself 2 foot in the air he looks preposterous.

facts? what facts?

Wed Nov 27

Team TOT
1 Nistelrooy Man Utd 17
2 Owen Liverpool 13
3 Henry Arsenal 12
4 Wiltord Arsenal 11
5 Marlet Fulham 10
6 Shearer Newcastle 10
7 Zola Chelsea 9
8 Anelka Man City 8

Which facts do you want to discuss?

Ruud has to be in the running for European Footballer of the Year

a) He does dive
b) Good player that he is,he is not,in my opinion,as good as Henry, who is quite clearly the best forward in Europe
c)The powers that be will ignore both their claims and give it to Ronaldo (I joke not)

It's not only about goals, it's about playing well and consistantly and winning things, and so far Ruud has won f*ck all. Players like Zidane, Roberto Carlos and even Henry will always come first because they've won things this year. But in my opinion Ballack has outdone them all this year even if he didn't win anything. He scored 26 goals last year from midfield, was Germany's best player in the World Cup along with Kahn and was simply magnificent.

Can you Pool fans get off your high horses for two seconds. Christ this thread is pathetic. Give credit where it's due for Christ sake and don't be so bitter. Ruud has dived in the past, the worst case being two or three times in the derby match. However Owen has always been a diver and has won some crucial games due to it. Your new signing Diouf is also a diver. Unfortunately it's part of the game these days. If they are spotted they are booked if not they usually get a penalty. Welcome to Football in the 21st century.

Yes, in my opinion Ballack has been the best, but that doesn't mean he will win it. It will be a Real player, no doubt.

Shouldn't Mario Jardel have won it a couple of years ago because he won the European golden boot and was top-scorer in the CL?

Agreed about Ruud. Its only a few odd LFC fans who call him a cheat cos their jealous.

i give RVN all the credit in the world, i think he's an outstanding striker. top, top drawer.

i just wish he'd quit the theatrics, it's pathetic. . .and we've been through this on here before, there is a big difference between exaggerating when you've actually been fouled, and throwing yourself over / up in the air when you've not been touched.

diouf does the same thing, possibly more cringeworthily, so it's nothing personal. . .

did he dive against basle unlike you sad bastards, did he dive against newcastler?

no so he doesnt every game

and by the way owen did well to get someone sent off again didnt he on saturday

All strikers dive every now and then. Unfortunately it is part of the game and we have to live with it.

This is a pointless school-ground discussion on who is the biggest diver and who is more pathetic and we will never agree!

Yea, i noticed that Ruud did dive, especially bad in one particular match, cldn't remember which one. But he is certainly NO perennial diver.

Going thr' yesterday match threads, Nate was going on about Ruud diving when he was clearly felled by a trailing leg. i saw it clearly on TV.

Cut that guy some slack, would ya?

DAVO and MOM. Every and I repeat every striker dives on ocassion. Some would call it gamesmanship. I certainly dont like it but he is no worse then any other top striker. I bet no one can name one top striker that doesnt take a dive.

Ruud does take a dive now and then, and I don't like it.

Dunno why the scousers keep going on about though, with Donkey, Smicer, Diouf and Owen in their side..

ruud is known to make his diving once in a while - this is common knowledge..

although i doubt it should stop him from getting the award.
