I know that 3 out of his 5 goals have been from penalties and that he hasn't had a great start to the season. Ruud himself has admitted that he needs to do better.

But what annoys me is that every time I pick up a paper, they discount his penalties as if they don't matter...when in reality 2 of those penalties have been really important to us. They have accounted for 6 out of our 11 points (as they were the decisive goals in both the Tottenham and Middlesbrough matches). Also, it's not as if just anyone can take a penalty and score. Look at what happened to Thierry Henry, Michael Owen and Alan Smith this weekend.

In a way, maybe Ruud has become a victim of his own success with penalties. He's so good at taking them we just take it for granted that he's always going to score.

it says alot for the man that through a bad goalscoring period he can still be relied on to keep his head and bang in the cheap ones. :)

ruud missed one against olympiakos last season iirc

yea that was his first pen in a united shirt it shows his character that he has not missed one since! he has not come close to missin one since!plus later on in that match do we not remember he scored to help us win neway!
LOOK! its very simple! van is quite simply the man!

ha exactly. 7 goals in in what, 10 or 11 games? like they say, he's lost it.

He hasn't scored from open play in the premiership so does this mean that the teams in england have found a way to stop him whilst the european teams who don't see him week in, week out don't know how to control him. Just a thought!

I don't think so. He's had the chances in the league he just didn't bury them (bar against Bolton, Keller stopping a shot from him with his feet...).

Van Nistelrooy is a better player this time around. He might not have the best of starts to the season but overall i think his gameplay is fantastic. His workrate is way better than last season, his ball control is fantastic & he can already create chances for the other players.
Wasn't the turn & pass to Beckham in the game against leverkusen was superb?I'm sure he'll hit the top gear soon...very soon.30 goals this season again!
