Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

Well, perks of being in power. Sometimes you grab the biscuits and if you are Trump, you grab them by their ......
P...p....pick up a pus erm penguin

I see trump is saying it wouldn't have happened if the election had not been stolen

Do wonder how all this will play out in us politics and ultimately what that may mean geopolitically and particularly for NATO.... I'm not expecting it to play out well

Ukraine is asking for help from all the snakes

The situation is a bit pathetic, everyone is magically passing through a tunnel. While I get it, it must feel surreal for Zelensky.

They took my advice, got them calling home to their mothers!

This is heart-breaking. The guy is talking to his mom and brother, mainly his brother.

He told his mum he's been captured and she's asking where, he answers Ukraine. I think she asks why he's there and he said they just told us in the morning to go. She's also asking where he is in Ukraine and he says he doesn't know. Finally, the Ukrainians are urging his relatives to call his commander/the army and ask them to stop the invasion.

Not a perfect translation but the gist is that this is the best 'propaganda' for Ukraine, directly trying to expose Putin's willingness to throw his people to the wolves.

Been reading every single page of this thread since the invasion began. Thank you to those who keep this thread updated.

Haven’t posted anything as of yet as I’m basically learning as the days go on. I’m transfixed on this constantly throughout the day. Genuinely praying for those in Ukraine.

What a world we live in when you’re getting statements like that from the fecking Taliban. We truly do need some kind of massive reset. Everything is so broken.

 Very true

Had no idea that those characters off Don’t Look Up were based on real people - I thought these two were the actors from the film!

Renting a bus tomorrow and driving to Poland/Ukrainian border to bring anyone needing a shelter to Lithuania. Planning to rent them a flat if needed.

We might have a factory reset soon.

Just had a thought, would this be Putin's Super League moment?

great stuff.

I'm pretty sure that's a war crime ... Better increase the sanctions and call him a very naughty boy because it does not look like we will go any further than that

There have been at least two incidents of war crime today. The kindergarten bombing and Russian soldiers disguising themselves as Ukraine army.

Let us know if you want a whip 'round @Rajma. I'm sure many of us would love to help through PayPal or something.

The relevant bit (at the end, after a long introduction describing the impact of the video) is this:

To save me some time, this is how Deepl translates that:

So this is a dad from the Donbass that was ordered by Russia to join separatist troops, and therefore had to say goodbye to his wife and daughter in the refugee camp in Russia to which he had been evacuated.

A good example of how difficult it is to sift through and process all the information coming through thick and fast. Social media is pumping out millions of post per minute and half of it is just misinformation, propaganda or both.

The actual context is supposed to be that it's a video about an Ukrainian separtaist saying goodbye to his daughter and wife and not an ukranian soldiers. Families of separatists have been sent to Russia.
Thanks. Not sure what to think of it. Many outlets spreaded that clip.

Thanks, just discovered google translate app has an audio option and was trying that but not having much luck!

For me it lends more credibility to the father's anguish and to Ukraine's plight overall. Like he is being forced to fight and die for a cause he does not believe in.

Nice one.

Be safe and massive respect to you for this kind act.
