Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

That's class

The british soliders knows more than anyone where the ukranian counterparts are going and that one they it could be them. Some of them will die and maybe very soon

Who knows the stories that they shared and why they are in the ukranian service. they know what they are facing. Top notch class

An important update on (ex-)internal Russian politics — they’ve just introduced the law that equals internet draft subpoena to a real one. And if before you’ve had to personally sign for it, now the very fact of your account on gosuslugi (government services) website receiving a notice means that you've "received" it.

Those with "received" draft subpoenas can't leave the country as well as do some vital stuff (like taking credits, selling or buying a flat or a car etc.).

Things are going very well for the Russian army's enrollment it seems.

That is one way to get a lot of "volunteers".

“The important thing is to not be scared”

what a boss
On one hand yes definitely
On the other it's just a trivial knowledge about challenging manual tasks. If you become insecure, you will feck up.

And a very easy way to serve practically every eligible male.

Has this been posted already? Seems like the US has much lower killed estimations than many here seem to assume, for both sides. If this whole thing is real, which seems to be a bit up in the air.

Many here got those numbers from places where they assume or exaggerate numbers for obvious reasons. I have been saying this for a long time. It seems more like a 1: 2 ratio in terms of causality from those leaked documents, and I think that is a bit closer to the truth. People talk about how many Russians died in places like Bakhmut, but it could destroy most of UA's reserve as well. There is no way UA troops can come out of there with minimal loss with the whole sh*t going on there for months. Hence, we didn't hear anything about the so-called counterattack. They should probably wait until the summer.

Well, yeah… but that first hand you mentioned is booby trapped hand grenade in a room full of land mines.

That dude couldn’t sneak up behind you on account of his brass balls clacking together

Front page of Reddit or on r/UkraineWarVideoReport there is a video of Russians behading a Ukrainian POW with a fecking knife

Not that i reccomend anyone watching that shite, but if it gets enough mainstream attention then it might spark enough outrage that NATO countries + the rest gets a bit more generous and start sending ATACM's, fighter jets etc

Yes, I saw a bit of the video, the beginning. POW was struggling. I urge most do not watch it. War is horrible.

It definitely got a lot of attention and what it will at least do is make Ukrainian soldiers think twice before taking Russian POWs instead of just executing them. Wouldn’t blame them.

Indeed. This war will end up taking a turn that is as nasty as in the Pacific War, but we can't say that the Russians have not asked for it with such behavior.

If murdering a POW for saying "Glory to Ukraine", sending missiles into civilian homes, Bucha, Irpin, civilian mass graves and torture chambers in every town, shelling bus stops and train stations, driving over cars full of people with tanks, abducting children after killing their parants, raping infants, raping children on the bodies of their dead parents, bombing Mariupol theatre and hundreds other unbearable war crimes didn't spark enough outrage, then this won't either.

If you start executing, Russians start doing the same. As unbearable as it is, you need to be better than that and continue to be as respectful as possible, so many of your comrades won't suffer a cycle of revenge. For every Russian POW a friend can come back and hug his family again.

I haven't seen that video, not do I plan to, but it confirms everything I felt about Russia in the last year.

Just ISIS with nuclear weapons.

This guy was a comedian before...surreal how the characters of people come out in the toughest of times. I can't judge his politics, but in my opinion Ukraine can't wish for a better leader in times of war.

I get what you are saying and I agree in general but Russia have been doing it since day 1. Just a few days ago there was another video of a couple decapitated Ukrainian soldiers laying nearby a destroyed vehicle, for all we know they were also executed while being alive. Imagine how many more similar things happened that were not recorded, or the recordings are still yet to appear. Personally I would completely understand if we would see a decrease in captured Russian POWs in the upcoming weeks.

Everyone should watch it.

No, they shouldn't. Images like that can stay with people for a long, long time and cause serious problems.

I'm curious why they have started doing this. Is it damaged soldiers taking out their anger, commanded from above for propaganda, or are they running out of ammunition? The Nazis did this kind of thing at the end of WW2 in the camps because they didn't have enough bullets for everybody.

Not at all. Just like @11101 stated, these things can stay with you and cause huge mental problems. I had to stop watching stranger things as it messed with my mind. Watching this, no chance.

I'm not saying we / the world should be ignorant and pretend this stuff isn't happening, and in a way I'm happy there is video evidence of the crimes being committed. Hopefully in time they will pay the penalty for these hideous war crimes and justice will be served.

I know. For every recorded war crime, there are probably hundreds unrecorded and untold. Still there are thousands of prisoners on both sides. You start a revenge cycle and that will only lead to more deaths on both sides. Every time I watch prisoner exchange videos, when Ukrainians call their relatives with tears in their eyes as soon as they are free again, you know how important it is to hold on Russian prisoners to exchange them for your people. One friend alive is worth more than 100 terrorists dead in my opinion.

Seems like we might be slowly losing patience with Hungary.

They got away for far too long blatantly supporting Russia, just yesterday:

Everyone should watch it.
We should spread the word about it but no, watching it will only traumatize most (all?) people without getting anything out of it. The fact that it exists as proof is enough.

Just a matter of time until they push for a fake again, as they did in Bucha.

Long overdue. And its not as if Orban has the luxury of removing Hungary from NATO so he can run into the arms of a weakened Putin.

And its not the first time its happened during the war if some of the reports of Wagner activities last year are to be believed.

Plus all the accounts and videos of them doing the same Syria, it is nothing new for them.

There was a video of a Wagner soldier cutting off a captured Ukrainian’s genitals while still alive. Apparently the guy who did it has history for it too.

Horrific.

Yes and before they did it in Africa. They kept some warlord or dictator in power and in return, they could loot, rape, torture and murder without fear of any consequences. Just look up which African countries support Russia in UN votes, then you know where Wagner operates. They consist of the worst kind of scum and they're still not officially declared as a terrorist organization. And the biggest hypocracy is, that private military and mercenary organizations are forbidden in Russia by law.

If Pirogin becomes really inconvenient, watch how they suddenly realize all that.

I don’t think even the Nazis beheaded people. I could be wrong- I’m sure someone can correct me- but I think they just hung most of them- as horrible as that is. There’s something about beheading that is a level below horrific. Either way, the things that men can do to each other seems to know no limits. There’s a phone (on YouTube) call between a Russian soldier and his mother and he is taking delight in torturing prisoners. Civilians as well. He goes into detail about something called 21 roses. It nearly made me sick. And his mum is cheering him on.
