Gaz. Is a Mewling Quim.
The 24-year-old joined from Nottingham Forest in January 2009 and was an England C international.

Chairman Gary Calder said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that this afternoon our England C goalkeeper Dale Roberts passed away.

"Our thoughts and prayers at this time go to his parents, family and friends."

A Forest spokesman said: "Dale was with us for several years and was enormously popular with his team-mates and coaching staff.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of his tragic death.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time."

Eastwood Town manager Paul Cox, who had Roberts on loan at Coronation Park earlier in his career, said it was "an absolute tragedy".

"I was only speaking to him on Saturday and he was one of the nicest lads you will ever meet, as well as an excellent keeper," said Cox.

"Some things are bigger than football and render it meaningless and this is one of them.

"We totally understand the decision to call the game off after his passing away.

"I have told Justin Edinburgh (Rushden's manager) that if there is anything we can do to help at this very sad time then he only has to ask."

John Terry’s brother ‘had fling with player’s fiancee’ | People in the News | People | The First Post

It seems playing away with your team-mate's girlfriend runs in the family of former England captain John Terry. His older brother Paul, who plays for the English lower league side Rushden & Diamonds, has been caught having a fling with the fiancee of the club's goalkeeper.

Paul Terry, 31, has reportedly admitted to other team-mates that he has been sleeping with Lindsey Cowan, a 25-year-old secretary who was engaged to Rushden goalie Dale Roberts.

Roberts and his fiancee have now split up, the Rushden keeper told the Mirror this week. "I'm a bit messed up... it is bad enough she's done it at all but the fact that it is with him, one of my team-mates, makes it that much harder to bear," he said.

It is thought that Terry-the-elder got to know Cowan after Roberts let him stay the night at their home last year.

But what must be even more galling for Roberts is that Terry's behaviour mirrors his brother's. John Terry allegedly had a fling with the former girlfriend of his then Chelsea team-mate Wayne Bridge last year. And although Bridge and Vanessa Perroncel had already separated, the revelation prompted Bridge to retire from international football and rule himself out of the World Cup as he no longer not want to play alongside Terry. National boss Fabio Capello was so angry that he stripped John Terry of the captaincy over the affair.

Now Roberts, too, is refusing to play alongside Paul Terry next season. According to the Mirror's source, "the players have all sided with Dale and are calling themselves Team Roberts. It's so similar to the John Terry and Wayne Bridge scenario it's ridiculous."

The news of Paul's affair comes days after the footballers' father Edward Terry admitted supplying cocaine to an undercover reporter from the News of the World.

Last night Dale Roberts' dad George hit out at the entire Terry clan. "They say every family has a black sheep - the Terrys must have a flock."

In amongst the storm of rage that will inevitably be aimed at the Terry's, who seem to be particularly scummy, it's important that no-one forgets that a man's dead - regardless of the reasoning. RIP, this is really sad.

Well feck me sideways...It will be so sad if he's commited suicide over this. I dont know if anyone has been cheated on, but it can tear you apart. Maybe all those knobs on here will think twice before brushing things like this under the carpet - again - if its turns out that he died over this.

Even if he did take his own life there's nothing to be gained from speculating as to the reasons, let alone laying the blame at someone's door.

Jesus, it really makes you think when something like this happens. Somebody's life getting short when it has really just begun. I feel like a bit of a numpty when I get sad over things like this, it shouldn't feel personal but it is.

R.I.P, thought are with his family.

Theres no reason given in the article, nor does it give a clue as to what the cause of death was. The natural thing you do when someone dies, is ask 'how'. I'm not being disrespectful and i've already paid my respects, so I dont see the big deal. I'm not trying to spark a speculation debate anyway.

Good posts, let's keep to this please.

Do papers always have to put two and two together and get five? Do they ever just think for one second just to leave something alone? Sometimes I wonder do editors have any conscience at all....

They don't have any conscience, they only think of the money not the ramifications.

RIP

That article is a disgrace. Nowhere does it given any proof that the reason he took his own life was because of the affair. Regardless of what Terry did, laying the blame for that solely at his door isn't right without knowing all of the facts.

Absolutely, just saw the article and put it up.

feck me, what a poor fella. I'm bleedin depressed readin that. Poor fecker! He had nothing left!

The thing that comes into my mind right now is "Love will tear us apart"

Ah man, this is a heart-breaking story. Poor fella must have been in a corner on his own for a long time.

RIP mucker :(

So we go from "We don't know it's a suicide" and "We don't know the cause of death" to "We don't know the reason for the suicide" and "We can't lay the blame on what Terry did"

Next it'll be "Just because he did commit suicide because of what Terry did, we can't put the responsibility on Terry's shoulders."

We want guilt-free and consequence-free sexual freedom, but what happens when sexual freedom results in ruined lives? Just don't talk about it, eulogize the fallen, and bury any responsibility, it seems.

Paul Terry like his brother is a cnut. But even though the chances are this had a lot to do with him taking his life, but you still cannot blame Paul Terry for that. He must have been unstable to do such a thing and nobody could have forseen it.

Or alternatively, jump to conclusions and write an article for a national rag the content of which is literally just:

- Paul Terry was knocking over his missus last year
- Paul Terry is related to John Terry who did the same thing to a team mate
- Dale Roberts took his own life

As much as I don't like standing up for a Terry that's an absolute disgrace and I'd be surprised if they don't end up on the end of legal action

The point is, you can't assign responsibility when you don't know the facts, especially when that responsibility is for a suicide. It's not the sort of thing you start throwing out there until it's been proven. It could have been for another reason, and if so, then the Terry's don't deserve to be vilified by the nation.

RIP to the lad, and sympathies with his family and friends. His family will live a lifetime of pain and grief.

Of course any sort of death is bad, but suicide is different IMO. Trying to get your head around the fact that somebody you love and care for actually took their own life, well it can drive you a bit mad if you think about it too much, and I know that from personal experience.

His missus is the main feck i blame in all of this. You can only imagine the fame-eyes she had. Getttin involved with Paul Terry is pure & simple - cool by association & all the networking that it could bring!

RIP Dale.... sad way to leave this earth & far too soon mate :(

Hope you're in a good place & with good company mucker!

Terrible story, fecking terrible!

Keeper commit suicide after fiancee affair with Terry's Brother

A young goalkeeper hanged himself after his fiancée left him for his team mate - who is John Terry's older brother.

Dale Roberts, 24, killed himself after his 25-year-old partner Lindsay Cowen had an affair with his Rushden and Diamonds team mate Paul Terry.

Lindsay left Roberts in May after Terry slept with her while staying at the couple's home.
