Soccerupdate....

Manchester United are reportedly considering a £30m swoop for AS Roma's Italian international striker Vincenzo Montella.

Heaven forbid.

Zidane and Figo were 29 & 28 respectively when they went for record fees.

IF we were gonna spend big on a striker from Italy it would have to be Vieri...
he's big, strong, quick, holds the ball well, excellent in the air & on the ground AND he speaks perfect english.

AND he looks like Brian Austin-Green of 90210.

30m for a 28 year old ? What a ripoff.</strong><hr></blockquote>

feck knows how much he's worth but he's arguebly the best striker in the world, so i'd be happier to pay 30mil for this 28 year old than the one you suggested.

BTW Zidane and Figo are the two best players in the world...hence their astronomical fees.

He may have been one of the best at one point, but he hasn't reclaimed his form since returning to Italy, infact he's yet to crack 20 goals there. His best year by far, was in Spain around the time of the WC. Hasn't been as good since.

I agree that his best time was in Spain, but I'd definitely say he's returned to that level this season. 28 goals in 2001? There hasn't been a better striker in the world this season and he will be the most feared attacker at the world cup. Montella simply doesn't have the same sort of presence in attack.

Raoul? Where did that come from?

haha the plc wont even ask Ferguson for the price of Vieri.About 45-50 million dollars.

He was excellent against England last night. Not just his goals but his skill, positioning, timing, placing, runs, decision making was top class.
He knew exactly what do do every time he had the ball and was allways available for a pass. Sol Cambell was bewildered after 30 mins which is why he stood off of him to score that great goal.
Joe Cole could learn a thing or three from him. On last nights performance VM would be a great addition but then again im no Martin Ferguson ;)
