This is funny...

Karl Heinz Rummenigge blasts Beckham in German Magazine Bunte.

He says that he have had enough of Beckhams hairdo`s and nailpolishing. He says:
- He`s (Beckham) changing from a footballer to a girl, espacially after the nail polishing thing.

He doesn`t stop there. He is full of admiration for Rudi Vollers hair:
- Its important that people like Rudis hair, and they do. In contradiction to many others, he has a certain style...

Hope someone can translate the whole interview. I only found bits and pieces from a Norwegian paper. Rummenigge tells something about an official party when Stefan Effenberg showed up in red leather pants and cowboy boots... Then they had to introduce a dress code for the players...

Rummenigge didn't exactly have a good hair career. Half the time it seemed as though his Brylcream had deactivated..

This is amusing:

<a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/funny_old_game/2183340.stm" target="_blank">http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/funny_old_game/2183340.stm</a>

Former German striker Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has accused David Beckham of turning into a girl.
Rummenigge, now chairman of Bayern Munich, made his comments after seeing pictures of the England captain with painted fingernails.

Some would say it's good Beckham is in touch with his feminine side - his wife and celebrity friends Elton John and David Furnish spring immediately to mind.

But Rummenigge is not so sure it's the way for a professional footballer to go.

He said: "Beckham doesn't look arrogant at all.

"But he is turning from a footballer into a lady, especially with his painted fingernails."

Mane

Amazingly, Rummenigge gives the thumbs up to Germany boss Rudi Voeller's mullet.

He told Bunte magazine: "It is important that people like Rudi's hair, and they do.

"In contrast to many others at least he does have a look. I believe his adherence to the grey mane is a fashion statement."

Others would say it's the statement of a man stuck in a 1970s timewarp.

Rummenigge was not so impressed when Stefan Effenberg turned up to the Bayern Christmas party wearing red leather trousers and cowboy boots.

At least Becks would have had the decency to put some matching lippy on.

1/ What Beck's looks and dos have to do with Rummenigge?
2/ What Beck's looks and dos have to do with Beck's football?
3/ Beck has all the right for a personal life.
4/ Rummenigge is as stupid as media people who thought they could tell Beck what to do/not to do with his hair, dating, marriage, etc.

I think the Rumennigge quotes were made tongue in cheek, and I think everyone should stop taking the media`s word as gospel. Context is the important thing - in what context did Rumennigge say those things?

Given he complimented Voller on those grey locks there is more than an element of humour there. I don`t care if the German made a humorous comment about Beck`s pink varnished fingernails. And I think you will find that Rumennigge was having a friendly dig at Becks as it is clear from his comments about boxhead Effenberg that Rumennigge does not like certain types of showy fashion.

As someone else said, why is everything always a `blast` instead of a comment or a tongue in cheek observation?

i wonder how anything ever gets done at bayern with the headcases they have running the club, and number they have among their playing ranks.
