When Rio clipped that Krauts head the referee went over and spoke to a person who was not a linesman, can an outside person i.e not the ref or the linesmen give any ruling on the game.

I thought it was just the referee and the linesmen who controlled the game.

But can he ask him for judgement on an incident in the game?If yes might aswell have camera replays.

Rio got a yellow card for that.

and he deserved it... but the other one should get the Oscar for best actor... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

Why can't he ask him? If he can ask the linesmen he can ask the fourth official.

As for replays, well, until any sort of technology is inserted into football things will be decided by flesh ;)

Rio was lucky. He could have been sent off. UEFA aren't shy about handing out red cards.
Agree with the best actor vote though. He should have been booked for that, it's the only way that sort of thing is going to get stamped out of the game

The fourth official can call the ref over if he see something with his eyes and not on a monitor then he can tell the ref to book a player.

Since when has TV evidence been admissable DURING a game? They should overturn Rio's yellow card, suspend the German lad for cheating, ban the fourth official for life, kick Bayer out of the competition, and award United the European Cup by default. I don't think that this would be an over reaction, merely justice ;)

Seriously, Rio's yellow card should definitely be overturned.

No thats never a over reaction :D , well if he coudln't see the incident and it was only after seeing it on a monitor then the card shud be removed.

it was a nice cozy moment, fritz backs into rio, seems to throw out his right elbow towards the great man, rio gives him a slap as if to a naughty child. larry had a go at him for reacting but youve got to admire the dismissive cuff as if to say "cheeky cnut".
the guy did throw out an elbow for fecks sake.
never mind fritz, not like the germans to start fights is it now?

If the 4th offical used the monitor, Rios yellow card should be removed.

Manchester United ACT NOW!!!

The rules state that the fourth official can only bring an incident to the attention of the referee if it is a RED CARD offence, the use of a tv monitor in such instances is not allowed.
This info was given out by a English ref, don't know who, on 5 Live.
