Rugby Union 23/24 Discussion

@T00lsh3d I should have made a post saying England would win as I've successfully cursed England and Ireland against New Zealand.

Ireland lost to England at Twickenham. Australia beat England at Twickenham. Australia>Ireland.

I thought we would and to be honest there was a lot about our performance that I liked.

Pleased for Australia though, you’ve been underwhelming for far too long and we want to see Australia competitive. It’s unhealthy to expect an Aussie side come over here and get whooped, you should be expecting that they might pull your pants down at any moment

Thanks mate. It's the best win the Wallabies have had in ages and clearly the best performance this year. It doesn't get any easier for England next week against the Springboks.

We’ll win that one in an underserved manner.

Should have won last week, should have won this week. Got feck all. Well deserve to lose next week and win

How wasn't that a knock on then?

Fun fact: Fiji coach Mick Byrne didn't play rugby at a professional level, he made his name playing Aussie Rules instead as a ruckman for the Hawthorn club in Melbourne winning the 1983 VFL (Victorian Football League) premiership.

Unfortunately that game sort of sums us up. We were absolutely brilliant in that 20 minute period of the second half but could only come away with 3 points. The Boks soak it up and score points at will whenever they reach our 22.

So much talent there and we are so good to watch and I’m forever grateful for that (there was once a time where we’d score 3 tries in a six nations). We just forever seem to be lacking that ruthlessness that could actually get us across the trophy threshold.

I thought it was mad to kick the three at that point against 14 men. When else were Scotland going to have a better chance to score a try.

Yeah it was conservative. Don’t really know what the logic was either. Maybe just the fear of coming away with nothing as we’d already knocked it on a couple of times prior to that.

I missed the first half and have only just seen the red. That’s PL level refereeing and application of TMO.

I didn’t see the sending off either but replays looked really harsh. It’s a good advert for the 20 minute yellow card in that the game wasn’t completely ruined. However I do wonder if it’s going to be a bit of a cop-out for refs to give the 20 minutes, rather than leave at a yellow.

Argentina are a proper hot or cold team. Capable of turning over anyone on their day, also capable of getting blown away by anyone at any time.

They’re like the new France

The way the TMO process happens in rugby is absolute light years ahead of VAR.

Gibson-Park papers over the cracks a bit, but our attacking inside the 22 feels like I’m watching Munster. Very blunt.

That last turnover seemed dodgy. No actually illegality that I could see, it just didn’t feel right

I'm happier that they didn't have a look at our push on their winger for that crossfield kick on penalty advantage. On first glance it looked like a yellow card and penalty try to me.

Exactly what I was thinking!
We’ve long barracked the famous ‘French video referee’ when playing in Paris….but I find Irish replays seem to favour the home side fairly often as well!

If Ireland don’t score in the next 5 minutes its game on

If they immediately reply then maybe not

The bounce back from the shit show v NZ isn't going to plan is it!!

Ireland poor again.

Ireland could run in 3 tries and win by 20….but even then I’d still be very impressed by Argentina.

I expected them to get beaten beforehand , after the first 10 minutes I thought they’d get immolated. But they’ve stepped up and made this a fight to the finish
