He wasn't French. It was Trevor Brennan, 13 Irish caps, from Kildare.
He attacked an Ulster fan but there was no serious injuries.
Conflicting reports. Some are saying that the fan was just shouting 'banter' type insults about Brennan's pub in Toulouse. Other, more serious reports suggest the Ulster fan was shouting sectarian and religious taunts at Brennan.
Gareth Thomas had to be restrained from getting involved with some Ulster fans at the end of the game also.
Lets hope the sectarian angle is not the case considering so many Ulster men are Involved in the Irish setup.

i dont understand this at all, Eric Cantona does the exact same thing and is suspended for 7 months or something, he is villified all over the press and calls made for him to be kicked out of the country. Yet it happens in rugby and hardly anyone even knows about it. Where's all the media coverage of it? I think i seen it mentioned on sky sports news once over the weekend!
Brennan is a fecking headcase, he gave an interview saying the fan was slagging his pub didnt say anything about secterian chants. Hes a good player but a nutter.
I don't know to be honest. There was a huge amount of Heineken cup footage over the weekend and I watched alot of it including Sunday's, I watched the news on Sunday evening, listened to the news Monday morning and it wasn't until lunch time Monday that I first read about it.beller2000 said:

wonder if this Ulster fan is going to come up with the same defence as the lad that Cantona kicked. all I said was "off you go young Eric, early shower for you my boy". A far cry from what was heard by fans nearby "feck off you french frog".
