You should also factor in that Ten Hag had 2 seasons to train these players whereas Amorim has had 4 full training sessions.
I like it but it can be annotated with so much more data (xG, xA, xT, final 3rd entries, high turnovers leading to shot, penalty box entries)
The stats also gloss over the reality that ETH was playing with the players he wanted and got for his preferred tactics and formation, whilst Amorim has been implementing a brand new formation and tactics with players not suited to maximize Amorim's style. Therefore the comparison is pretty pointless given the vastly divergent set of circumstances.

My point was more about the reality of the expectations we need to be setting ourselves. It’s a huge change that we are trying to implement in our style of play. It’s going to be painful. And that does make me a little nervous, because it’s only worth doing if we are committing to this style of play for the forceable future; and not just for Amorim’s tenure. And whilst our signings weren’t bad as such, I can’t say they correlate as clearly as I’d like to our intended style of play. But perhaps that’s me just being unfair.
They are 'training' every day but most days they just do light work and gym in between games. Think there was an interview with Dalot where he said they were just in the gym doing recovery all the time when the schedule gets busy. Usually I think it gets overplayed how long it takes to get a system into place but the December/Jan run of games is awful so, in this case, it is a legit reason.
Absolutely. Ten Hag‘s start was better though in his first season, so you can factor that in too.
I do support Amorim and hope he starts getting points before he gets himself sacked.

It's been like this for years, players thinking they've made it now that they're starters for Manchester United with fat contracts, therefore they don't need to be lectured by some nobody coach. It's a massive culture problem.
What's problematic is it's about such a young player. I had some suspicion about him going this way but...as I said, hoping it's not true, otherwise we are in mariana trench depths of shite culture wise.

Because there have been games every few days, and all the available time is spent on recovery etc. the manager has bad very limited time to actually coach the side, as a result. Tifo did a video about a month ago suggesting that Amorim would have virtually no time to coach, based on typical management timetables, and lo and behold he has confirmed it in a press conference now.
So you mean to say that a manager got better results from a group that has been playing favorable system for years compared to a manager who’s system is completely different?

Judge him after he's built his own squad.
That might be a more fair comparison if we'd done what we should have done and bought Amorim in at the start of the season, rather than letting ETH tank another season when he clearly was a problem and bringing Amorim in during the most difficult period of the season.

Not really, his signings made us much worse and he didn’t turn around anything. He abandoned his idea. Amorim would have been picking up points too if he did what ETH did but then thats not what we hired him for.
His system is nowhere similar to what Amorim plays, with Amorim saying it himself that the players need to forget what the previous manager trained them to do.
