Why is thinking about relegation any more fanciful than what you're suggesting will happen?
Assuming the Board are taking the stance that relegation isn’t remotely likely, like 99.9.% of fans, it’s irrelevant.
I have every sympathy with your view. Amorim himself talked about the possibility of relegation being an issue during his last post match interview.
Why is it nonsense excatly? Is the team that has been pounded by 7,5 and 4 goals on various occations over the past few years too good to go down? There has literally been teams with this point tally after 19 that got relegated. Had City not thrown the game our record for the season wouldve been even more atrocious. We’ll most likely lose the next two and if the teams below us pick a few points we’ll be within touching distance of 18th.
The two tens need to be half-wingers basically, with excellent technique and pace. And the wide CBs need good recovery pace to defend the flanks and they have to be good ball carriers.
So what's your minimum expectation for Amorim this season? Blank cheque? As long as no relegation all well and good. Next season we give him 300m to spend? Also, we need to give him 3 years?
A new manager before the end of the season is very realistic. Especially if we continue to be so close to relegation or maybe even get even closer to it.

That's just the worst case scenario. The point was he needs to improve and implement a style of play. He also needs to make full use of the squad. We cant have every manager that comes in need to change 24 players to play his style. So far he has shown nothing to justify he is the right manager.
Like the players we have attracted over the last five or six years? We need a revamp of the recruitment, rewrite the whole playbook and adjust our sights from PSG, Bayern rejects to players teams like Villa, Brighton etc would look at so as to build a solid base.
Yeah there was a very clear abandoning of EtH’s style after the first two games. We then set up with Ole ball against Liverpool and Arsenal and beat them and then focused on being a transition team.

This does need to be the plan. Unfortunately, I am unsure we have a board or a supporter base willing to be patient enough for it. It has needed to be the plan for a while.
I don't consider the end of this season to be a fair timescale. I'd be giving Amorim at minimum, the end of next season. Caveats of course being relegation this season or prolonged relegation form well into next season. I'm confident that neither of those two things will be happening.
When you employ Amorim, you employ Amorim's one idea. That is irrespective of how many of the current players it suits. Just my view that relegation isn't happening. Three wins from 19 games will likely be enough.
This is the issue, you hear people clamouring for a rebuild but lose their heads the moment things get tough and lose all appreciation of context. They pick on the formation but ignore the bizzare errors players make. They point out that we have a rotten culture but blame the manager the second it rears it's ugly head.

Yes, I do believe we are too good to go down. It might not be what some of you like to hear, but it's the truth. City did not throw the game. We were the better side and deserved our victory. Southampton is our next league game after Liverpool. I don't expect us to lose that.
Arsenal is a cup game. I think we will lose to Liverpool and beat Southampton, so 25 points from 21 games. Far from good, but not the doomsday picture you paint.
Well, what are you expecting? Champions League football right off the bat? As long as the playing style has fully established itself over the next year and performances have reached a certain level, then that's fine for now. We can go into the market with clarity and fine tune certain positions.
I'd hope a manager getting paid millions has at least two ideas.
He doesn't. He's stated recently that he has only one idea.

Losing to Brighton and Fulham is a very real possibility. At the moment, both are better than us.
In general, no manager should be allowed to “build his own team” or “buy his own players”. We need players who suit the club strategy irrespective of who’s the current manager, which in turn means we need managers who are compatible and on board with the club strategy. I thought we’d all learned as much from ETH’s reign but evidently not, considering the amount of posters who want us to spend a fortune on specialized players for a niche system.
Probably because Gareth Southgate is at an age where he should be an experienced manager, yet has achieved the square root of feck all.
