We are at the start of a long-term transformation so clearly need a manager who can do that whilst winning every game. Easiest job in football this.

Ok let me say this again as some of haven't understood yet, we are on pre-season squad assessment mode until August 2025. So after that start rising the questions are the manager's tactics and squad selection working etc. Until that it's just rough squad assessment and going through games like today. We will have around 5 more of games such as today was this season.
TBH I feel bad for Amorim, he can not of realised the shower of shite he was coming in to, that said I think if we have patience and faith he will bring us success, but with this group of players he is trying to swim up stream with a horse on his back

He was the best of a bad bunch last season but the sooner Dalot is replaced the better.
Amorim needs to take full blame for this. Starting players like malacia and zirkzee and subbing them off at halftime and 55th min leaves the strongest 11 less than half a game to win it. Especially with malacia being brain dead and committing pointless fouls one after another which led to the opening goal.

Yes he has, we are creating way more chances than we did under ETH, what hasn't changed are the mistakes, not much a coach can do about that, it's not like it's just 1-2 players doing that either, it's endemic in the team
One thing he does need to do is speed up the distribution, we're way too slow getting the ball up the field, by the time we do the opposition is defensively set
We can whinge and moan all we want and it won't make a lick of difference as to the reality of the situation, this isn't his third or even second season where he's got to implement his style and bring in suitable players, he's been handed a dysfunctional side with players who play as if they've never played a principled and measured game in their lives.
So as it stands the best thing he could possibly do for the long term future pf this club is the aforementioned, sure he could stoop low and resort to short term solutions but that's just keeping on the band aid when the wound has started festering and is need of disinfection and we know how it's gone the past times we've tries that.
I agree that we must be more ruthless when it comes to managers, but also realistic.

You can concede goals like spurs did against us twice by playing out from the back… cheap goals conceded. This season won't be pretty. We all should have known that. There's a lot to fix in the squad. We have largely an unathletic and slow team.
It wasn't great by any means. But we were never outplayed, for all the waltzing Bournemouth had, they didn't actually have any clear cut chances. Do you remember Onana having to make a great save? A set piece and daft penalty. Like the Spurs game, a set piece and two goalkeeping errors.
I do blame Amorim this match for the midfield. Either play Bruno as an 8 or don't play him.
We have barely controlled the games though. Did it look like control today and Thursday. Yes we created chances but we look dreadful defensively, teams go through us easily. That is not control.
We absolutely did control that Spurs game for about 75 minutes. What are you on about.
Okay, we lost 0:3 at home, but the main thing which I saw from the team was their attitude after 0:2 and 0:3 - they showed the spirit to fight back. That is huge upgrade from ETH era and it's most important difference now. The mentality must change and it's changing for the better. I back him 100%, he is the right man to do this job.

This has to improve, it's been the same since LvG. Onana looked comfortable at Inter, you can't say we have bad players either, Onana, Licha, Maguire are all known for being decent on the ball.
2. Why do our players constantly misjudge where the teammates are going to be? They never seem to be in sync with each other. Our attacks always break down because player A expects B to make a run only for B to hold his run to receive the ball or vice versa. This happens across the pitch not just in the opposition half.
3. All off our players other than Bruno(mostly) and Amad can't trap the ball properly under pressure. Passes are being underhit or overhit or wobbly far too many times at this level. It's the basic stuff that even Bournemouth, Brighton do it admirably. This has to improve as well.
4. We cannot make another mistake of relying far too much on one player, it's been the same in different points of time since SAF. Under Amorim its been Amad so far who seems to be the only creative spark in the team. It won't be long until we spoil him as well if we go the same route.

They didn't get that final ball because our shape was good. It has been good since Amorims second game.
I could equally say we at least 5 or 6 openings to score a goal but didn't hit the target.
I understand what you say but that is not our situation, if it was then great. If you reference Arsenal as an example, it’s not because we did feck all attacking in that game. I would hardly call it control.
I still feel teams go through us easily (obviously not as bad as when ETH was here). It’s frustrating how much easy goals we concede.
The same form which made him the exciting talent he is. Coming from out wide, using his pace and coming in. I know he’s not going to change it and I know he’s trying to find players for right positions but I hope he can do that sooner rather than later.
Some have forgot that we were getting outplayed nearly every week under ten hag, the scorelines for some of the games were generous as we got ripped apart time and time again. So far we have done far better at controlling games, we have more of the ball and we progress up the pitch far better. We also do have games where our defense looks strong, a good structure with not much space which is a big upgrade on before. The problem we still have is players giving the ball away in bad areas and then allowing teams to get easy chances against the run of play. If we can be a bit better on the ball in key areas and actually start taking our chances then results will turn around quickly. So far under amorim i cant think of one game where we came away being outplayed, we may have lost but i always felt we were in the game. This has all been achieved with poor players from a failed regime and no preseason, i think he is doing great to be honest.

Well we can agree to disagree. I think Bruno is better as an out and out 10 and Garnacho out wide coming in. Obviously the tactics were wrong last season and part of this with ETH. Anyway Amorim has his formation so will see if can find the right formula.

On paper we have a decent first 11 with top 4 quality. And EVEN this team has glaring weaknesses.
Hojlund not a prolific goalscorer. Bruno wildly inconsistent. Garnacho a little stupid. Martinez good at passing bad at defending. Mainoo inexperienced. Onana error prone.
And you want Amorim to come in and turn these players into world beating team. Wake up, will you?

We did not control the opening 30 minutes today until Bournemouth scored. It was very even with both sides turning the ball over regularly and they got into good areas with space quite a few times.
I think he realises that but didn't he say earlier that it's better to go through that pain barrier this season so at least next season we will be one step ahead?
I personally don't want us to have recruited another manager we admired based on his playing style and philosophy to come to United and then declare they can't play that way with our team.................a la ETH.
I am more than happy to forfeit this season if we are moving in the right direction.
I understand what you are saying regarding he style but I certainly don’t think it’s good enough to forfeit a season. I don’t think that is acceptable at all. We still have a lot to play for and qualifying for the UCL would have financial implications for next season and recruitment.

Basics. We can't do the basics right and you have to wonder, these are professional footballers that perform decently for their respective countries. Why is it when it comes to United they turn into brain dead zombies.
I really don't understand it. No cohesion, at times Sunday league levels of play with schoolboy level mistakes or unforced errors, lapses in concentration, zero urgency chasing a game and other factors that at times make you wonder if it's all a piss take by the players.
All this makes you wonder if its a mental block of some sort because it sure as shite is not a physical limitation.
Do we need to bring in a world class shrink instead?
