Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Honestly just very excited to have a likable manager with some charisma about him. I'm clearly starving.

Very reassuring that. I think on a surface level they look similar in terms of age and achievements but yeah enough differences that it should pan out differently.

Hopefully Ruben can enter his "Special One" phase now.
I'm already whispering 'As It Was Written' & 'Lisan Al Gaib' whenever I see a picture of him.

A few games in that smile might be gone. I hope I’m wrong.

Interesting listen on Talk of the Devils podcast about his rise, short tenures at Casa Pia (4 games), Braga B (8 games), Braga (13 games)

25 games of management before Sporting game in - paying the the third largest release fee for a manager, albeit, behind Brendan Roger’s and Andres Villas Boas.

He is certainly inheriting a more confident and positive side in compared to what Ruud did.

Massive credit due to Van Nistelrooy, would love to see him get a decent job somewhere.

How is there still not an interview with the guy on United's site, the PR side of things is still as atrocious as it ever was.

His leadership and communication skills are what set him apart, imo.
And while those skills will have a pretty quick impact in the locker room, it might take a while for it to be visible with the press.
His English is ok, but not really enough that it allows him to be as clear and decisive as he was in Portuguese.

Because he isn't officially employed by the club until the work permit is in place.

It would be breaking the law.

Feels like he is the kind of manager who could do that Mourinho style march on the pitch v Blackburn in 05 after a big result

Ruben Amorim chant (to the tune of Ruby by Kaiser Chiefs)

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby (Aaamorim!)
Do you, do you, do you, do you (Aaamorim!)
Know what you're doing, doing, to me? (Aaamorim!)
Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby (Aaamorim!!!)

What has me most excited about Amorim is how much his players seem to love him. He has a bit of a prime Mourinho at Chelsea vibe where his players would run through a wall for him. But without Jose’s everyone is against us mentality.

Ye but he hasn’t met half of our players yet.

Questioning the manager already, before he’s even had a game. Never change, NegCafe. :annoyed::lol:

Easier to achieve this (particularly as a young coach) with a young team with a relatively smaller spotlight on them.

Good luck achieving that here  nigh on impossible in today's game, I think.

Chelsea Mourinho had the likes of Terry, Drogba, Lampard, Ballack, Makelele, Robben. We lack that level of fight and quality.

There's a great 10min video on YouTube, UtdPeoplesTV or whatever it's called that gives a good overview of what Ruben achieved at Sporting.

I think he's the man for us. I'm sold.

Negative news already coming out I see. dressing room upset because Amorim let RVN go. What a load of lies. They didn’t look upset when he met the players.
