Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

I think he’s completely clueless if I’m honest. We are constantly overrun in midfield, it’s the exact same issue as under Ten Hag.

Bruno can’t play CM but every week he’s in that role. We lose all attacking threat we had which came through him.

Casemiro should never play for us again. Would rather see a youngster that can run for 90 minutes.

We now have Dorgu and Dalot on the correct wings which makes you wonder why he even tried them on opposite wings against Leicester.

I’m tired Robbie. Unironically bring back Ole. His worst was a level we’d be lucky to touch a again for the next few years.

Also INEOS is running the club worse than Woodward right now.

Glaringly obvious Gary has turned on him. Picking his tactics apart multiple times this past week

Neville may as well just say he wants Amorim sacked at this point. Calling his tactics a disgrace.
He's right, we're staring at 14 points from 14 games, while he plays various players out of position in a formation that suits nobody but won't change. It's hard to think of a worse way United could be set up tbh.

We don’t have the squad at all to play a 2 man midfield. This 343 isn’t working whatsoever.
There aren't many CMs on the planet that would make a 343 work in the PL. It's just a running contest these days. Almost impossible with just a 2.

Ok

But before we signed him the excuse was "we need proper WBs". Now we have one and nothing has changed. Now its "we need different CMs". Which is probably the case, I'm not disputing you.

But this is kind of proving a problem with Amorims one way of playing.
It wasn’t an excuse put forward by me. I’ve been saying since the start this was a bad appointment. They should have gone for Iraola, but they wanted a “proven winner”. In a tin pot league (maybe slightly harsh) but this was eerily similar to ten Hag (winner in another tin pot league; not so harsh). Iraola has proven he is adaptable in this league and can get the best out of the players at his disposal, Amorim has proven the opposite.

I wasn't directing it at you, sorry.

You'd need prime Kanté probably with Ugarte. But also you'd need the wing-backs to be on the same wavelength and maybe Bruno from the CAMs dropping in to make it a three when they're overrun. None of this stuff is happening.

Why are we always outnumbered in the middle of the park? It’s suicidal.

Agreed.

I don’t understand why, if he wants to persist with 3 at the back that we wouldn’t just change it to a 352 and give ourselves an extra body.

This is so boring and predictable.

Everytime I listen to him it reassures me that he'll eventually get us there, but everytime I see us play the doubts creep in as we do nothing right in games.

Either he is a conman or a victim? I can't make up my mind.

Sorry, I know that. But I agree with you, his inflexibility with the system is a huge issue. I think he needs to go. Anyone can see them that Casemiro and Fernandes would get overrun today. That meant either play youngster who have legs but are untested at this level or change the system. He’s being alarmingly obdurate. It’s almost like he has already realised what a shit show he has gotten involved with and wants out.

Might aswell stick on a few youth at halftime this lot have shown they aren't up for it.....again.

Chi for hojlund
Kone for case

Yeah, this bit is just fecking bizarre

The problem for me now, and it is really showing on the pitch, he seems to be so inflexible that when it comes to the team line up its like throwing darts at a dartboard.

Been saying for weeks that biggest issue with this formation is two man midfield. It won't work against majority of premier league team and will leave us open through the middle.

He’s been dealt a bad hand with a lot of things, especially injuries this week.

But one thing that’s all on him is his tactics and the way he sets up a team. And that’s been an abomination since day one.

I'm fine with him being given until the end of the year, to see if the summer window can change things. But frankly I wouldn't give a feck if he left tonight. There's nothing to defend, there's no hope to cling on to. We're dreadful. Every single game.

Would a prime Roberto Carlos and Cafu instantly change our play?
I can't see it tbh. I can't understand how a manager can just have one system.
Would Salah be playing a wing back if Amorim was the Liverpool manager?

He's done here
He’s not even started.

A bunch of departures with no incomings in January, took over an already shit squad, he’s now facing a ridiculous injury crisis with his best player out.

Fans may not like it but it’s INEOS and Glazers that should be under the cosh here. He’s doing exactly what he told them and us he would do and he’s doing it under ridiculous circumstances.

We won't sack him during the season, but he's basically making sure that it ends in the summer. There's no progress, we're actually regressing. He's a goner

Thats why Liverpool dodged this particular bullet. The incompetence at our once great club shows no signs of abating.

In the last 16 games we have combined scored 1 goal in the first half. Bruno pen vs Brighton. Absolutely shocking!

Yep, he has done next to nothing to earn trust for the future backing
What's he saying?
He said the structure of the team is awful and criticised the midfield several times, with Bruno ending up in the right midfield, pointing out gaps again and again.

His tactics are shite. This Spurs side are poor and we let them score a very simple goal. Overrun in midfield and our set piece play is League 2 standard.
I get the players aren’t great but they are and have been better than this. No confidence because they don’t buy into his system, which is safe to say won’t work with these players no matter how long we persist with it. 15th in the table and deep in the shit. Wrong manager for what we needed and it’s showing - releagation fodder from mid table team. Nice one.

I’m not defending Amorim here but who are people wanting to see in midfield? He pretty much had to start Zirkzee and Hojlund today.

He’s been dealt a bad hand with the squad but it’s hard to keep hope that he might turn this around. Our defence isn’t better for the back three , it’s worse. The attack is just awful and the midfield nonexistent.

Reminded me of ETH making the players run however many miles it was after the Brentford loss.

"Punishment by training" plays well with the fans but tends to be counterproductive to player conditioning.
You kinda expect a professional coach to know that but hey he came midseason so it's all good, right

I haven't seen enough of Amorim to say whether I like or dislike him as a person. I'm ambivalent to him. However, his tactics are horrid, so defensive and easy to play through. He is showing nothing as a manager and actively making them worse. If it wasn't for psr I'd probably look to get rid at some point. However, due to finances we just have to hope he at least performs decently next season but I'm not optimistic. We aren't going to suddenly revamp this side in the summer. So a lot of these players will still be here next season and if this is how he performs with them we are in for a long season both this one and the next.

His options are limited for the game but I certainly wouldn’t be playing Bruno in the midfield 2. He should be one of the CAMs with two midfielders that can run in CM.

The club overlook CM so many summers in the past. We got Ugarte in but we needed a replacement for Eriksen’s creativity. We started off the season with 2 first team CM in Eriksen and Casemiro that simply cannot play football at this level anymore.
