Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Think it's delusional they care what formation he plays. He's getting a free pass at the moment to try to implement his system but trust me these greedy cnuts wouldn't give a toss if he switched to a 442 and qualified for the champions League.

This is an investment for them, they aren't trying to settle some football philosophy debate.

I really like him

He's frustrated that he appears to be the only one who gives a damn about Manchester United winning games, and maintaining standards. Good for him. So many bums playing for this club who have been embarrassing this club for too long.

Only on the caf could Amorim cracking be deemed as some kind of hairdryer treatment win. When the club needs a cool head to guide us through the tough times he's having tantrums in the dressing room.
Yep for me it looks like the pressure is getting to him already. In over his head.

I really like him

Just on a linguistic side note: perhaps our Portuguese speakers can help us out, but I feel like when he says ‘nervous’ he means more like angry. I remember my Brazilian students asking me why I was nervous when I yelled at the class.

Portuguese people are very passionate, like us Irish. I'm all for it, putting an arm around these players shoulders isn't going to achieve the results you want either.

What are you on about? The players care about the formation insofar as it gives them to opportunity to play well together. If the tactics make them look like mugs every week then naturally they will like the tactics less.

No one thinks the players are trying to settle an intellectual quarrel with Jonathan Wilson.

Think they're talking about the ownership and its a reference to this tweet:

It's nice that we have a coach who is honest and passionate. Different managers have their own style of doing things so I could understand why ten Hag tried to be positive after shite performances but it did become very annoying to listen to when we were going through bad times and he was trying to tell everything was fine. Amorim won't sugar coat bad performances and results. It's refreshing to listen to.

My impression from hearing it in context is that he means something like "agitated". I don't speak a single word of Portuguese though.

Sorry, was trying to quote the Twitter post a few pages ago that said something along the lines how happy the ownership is with playing 343. Sounds like bullshit to me.

Here is an ideal lineup for the 'famous' Amorim 3 4 2 1 formation that can be used as a model or reference.
you can judge on how much the drop in quality is with the current squad.

Too many games in quick succession. Our attack was utter crap before he arrived. He's removed Rashford (correct call) and now we have no genuine goal threats other than Bruno (who tries to do everything by himself) or Diallo (who's an inexperienced kid at this level).

The problem is very much squad balance and personal especially up top and he simply cannot fix that until the Summer.

On top of that we've basically been playing two games a week since he got here. Having said all of this, I'd much sooner have these teething problems now and start next season from a position of strength and knowledge than have signed Amorim in the Summer and have the same problem but impact next season.

At least we knew already that our league position was going to be shit this year. So may as well have the really bad patch now when it doesn't overly matter.
Great post. Couldn't agree more. I've said it for months now, this season was a write off when we decided to stick with ten Hag. We're only playing for the cups now, our league position really doesn't matter to me. Does anyone seriously care if we finish 12th or 9th?

Clowns. Media heads were all saying the same thing about 'these players' till all the favorites also weren't good enough. Some of the 'not our biggest problem' players are some of the biggest problems. Captain getting red cards and the GK of the year diving on catches. Flatter to deceive. Let's not talk Rashford and others.

I think just nervous and it's fine - it would be odd if the team were not nervous every game at the moment. There's a false undertone in sport with the idea of nerves being a bad thing but all the best players acknowledge it is there and can use it to their advantage. Ronaldo openly talks of nerves in football for example.

You are right. I a french and nervous can have the same meaning as in english but also mean to have an agitated or agressive behaviour. « A nervous man » is said about someone being agressive.
And there is another word which is from nervous (énervé) which means angry.

I really feel for him. The club is garbage, and the media are generally horrible.

Feels more and more like an impossible job for him (or anyone, really).

INEOS need to pull their finger out and make some serious moves in the transfer market, no more excuses. Back the man.

Jim et al have made some terrible financial decisions from the off but they need to get behind Ruben. Give him what he needs.
If it means clearing out the garbage, underperforming children then so be it. Start from scratch and get back to United are about - promoting through the ranks. Invest the cash into a new scouting team as they clearly mediocre.

I read the quotes and saw he said he's nervous, and then thought he's lost his marbles and is going against himself.

Then i saw that video above and it goes against how he's portrayed in the quote on text.

He has to stop being honest and speaking so much with the vultures to be honest.

The thing is if Amorim gets the right players, for the most part, they should fit any system that intends to dominate possession. I don't get why people are concerned about getting him players that suit how he wants to play.

Our wingers should be good in tight spaces anyway. Both Giggs and Becks would have thrived in the wide 10 positions as well as the wings. Wing backs, depending on their strengths could either be full backs or wide forwards.

The issue is not one of formation, it's one of ill-suited players to a team expected to play dominant football

100%. A bunch of styles created from several managers with different tactics / formations.

Yes I care. I hope every United player wants to win every match. If we are 9th, we'd have won more matches than if we were 12th.

It is embarassing enough to speak about such league positions.

Obviously I want us to win but I'm not going to live and die by league results. I'm more concerned about the performances and Amorim implementing his style of play.

Usually they go kind of hand in hand, especially if we have a fit squad. I am not a fan of this throw the league mentality.

Our players are already way too used to losing, it has become their normal.

Ironically Mourinho to Ole on paper was a great choice tactics-wise, both counter-attacking coaches.
Probably why we played some of the best football post-Fergie as the issue with Mourinho wasn't really the players he had, it was how toxic he was and they were liberated under Ole.

Well said. Tough time to come in, especially since we struggle to sell and too broke to buy

i really like this guy
We all should, finally we got a guy who is very clear with his ideas and expectations from players, obviously he is not happy with what he is seeing from his players which is understandable.

If I am honest I didnt enjoy watching us for a long time (except few months under Ole), and this will change only if the players take accountability.

Ruben was liked by all his previous 3 teams proves he is not that bad with man management, I know UTD is a different fish but I really hope he will have tremendous success here.

Very interesting - thanks for sharing that!

Setting standards is all good and well but remember ETH's letter to fans after league cup win, how'd that pan out, I really hope Amorin is the one, I'm sick of watching us fall further n further from what we once were, it excruciating to watch us fail season after season
