Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

I would get rid. I said it. There it is. It was a bad decision to bring in a manager with niche tactics and player requirements.

Get a manager that plays a more standard game plan and stick to it.
You cant buy a whole new squad of players to play counter attacking 523 and then need a whole other squad when a new manager comes in after its fecked up.

We need continuity of tactics

Your name checks out.

Playing Casemiro, Ericksen and Zirkzee was criminal, big mistake but I’m backing him as he has time coming up to work with them but it seems some don’t want to and that could be the end of him, he needs to start winning and soon, voices of support on here are changing.
Youre talking as if we have a plethora of talent sitting on the bench. Mainoo prolly the only option he should have started with.

I don't care that he just got here 2 months ago. If he gets whipped by 5, 6 or 7 at Liverpool then his job is in question.

No decent United manager can allow it, experimenting or not.
The manager can't decide if that happens or not. At least not directly.

It's beyond stupid to stick with a system when we don't have the players for it and we haven't had enough training to apply it.
Beyond stupid

But how can he coach a system he has never used before? He would look even more lost...

Far too inexperienced as a coach at the top level. Too rigid with this stupid 3-4-3 formation. I fear he won't make it

I still don't think he'll manage the team next season but it's not entirely his fault, he's responsible for the poor results but there's a multitude of factors.

The biggest issue is the current circumstances needs a game model that the middle east would develop where you can bring in an influx of players in one window. INEOS don't come across as having the resources to accommodate such a drastic change over the short term.

INEOS ultimately created this predicament, so you have to question their strategic capacity.
The only way out of this mess now is a Chelsea type of strategy. The club will need to bring in about 25 new players across Jan and June, whilst offloading about 25 players. The only way to solve this is pure cash investment.

It's gonna cost Jimbo billions, literal billions in cold hard cash, to fix this club now.

It is, but we made the mistake of giving too much time to managers that show no sign of achieving the standards required too many times. If he doesn't show he can build a coherant team with this squad, are they going to give him £X hundred million to build a squad or start looking for someone else who might be able to? I'm not saying he should be sacked, I don't want him to be either, but if it was my money I don't know if he'd have convinced me he was the man to be in charge of it.

Majority of these players can't play any system. We have a slow, unathletic side. What manager will come in and be able to play their style? Especially as everyone now plays in a particular way

I do feel like he needs a strong performance against Liverpool or Arsenal away. This is a bad run of form and there are very little positives to take away from the performances too.

Some fans are just daft. And then there is you
Not so daft especially if he get us relegated. Wolves managed to beat us using the same system and a new manager. What is it then wolves has better players? Or manager is daft and is not able to appreciate players capabilities. (Ps do not tell me its Brunos fault, as it Dolot incompetence's at LWB and coach persistence with him there that got Bruno sent off)

The manager can't decide if that happens or not. At least not directly.
If the manager can't prepare his team not to get whipped, we have no hope left

A defeat to Liverpool is already a given. Im talking about a heavy, embarrassing defeat like ETH got.

But we are slowly getting dragged into relegation battle. Ipswich are only 7 points behind us
Currently yes. But we obviously wont get relegated.

There's stuff on Amorim, such as decisions to persist with Dalot, a very slow spine in the middle of the pitch today, set pieces, constantly changing his backline midgame etc.

But hes working his players out and trying to experiment the right formula. All match days are effectively training games for him. We need to just accept that and hope we do well in cups.

Whats needed is a proper window with 4-5 new players and a clear out to support.

He got a lot wrong tonight, but on form did Marino deserve the start? Absolutely not.

It’s been said a million times before, but bringing him in mid-season was a batshit crazy move. Jim and Omar made a bad call and it’s showing. He should’ve been brought in with a clean break in the summer.

I just hope this isn’t a Graham Potter experience, it unfortunately for Amorim there isn’t a smidgen of positivity.

He won’t walk and he shouldn’t. He needs time to implement his ideas, however, we’re lingering dangerously close above the relegation places, I think he needs to find a temporary formation that players are comfortable playing in. In the summer hopefully the board will back Amorim and give him his wingbacks and striker and Amorim can start using his 343.
He won’t walk. That sort of thing only happens in people’s imaginations.

Big Amorim supporter here, but it is clear that he doesnt have the players at his disposal to play his desired system. No wing backs. No centre backs with recovery pace that are comfortable playing a high line. No 10s that can move with the ball and no forward that can link up play.

What is he trying to achieve? This lot can barely play in a 433, so how are they ever going to pick up a 3421? It is leaving us short in the midfield because the wing backs are reverting to a back 5.

Some fans are just daft. And then there is you
Realistic. We’ve gone from having little goal threat to zero goal threat. We play 5 defenders every game and conceded 2+ goals. The scenario is not on him but his inability to get the players into his system is, and in 2 months we are going backwards. I’m not calling for his head but I’m saying he’s the wrong man and the club need to acknowledge this as we are looking more like relegation fodder than mid table and that is on him.

I thought he was more flexible and creative with this his 343. Sticking Dalot and Mazraoui as wing backs and subbing centre backs for centre backs every game while losing is not what I envisaged. He seems to have given up already.

We need leadership on the pitch. Someone organising the team and reiterating the managers instructions. Bruno is too emotional, we need a Keane, Gerrard, Terry type player. Sorry that probably seems old skool but it’s what we need.

Not a manager on earth that could implement a style and get a song out of this crop of shit.

You either vibes it and hope for the best or dis trying.

Yeah that starting XI wasn't good.

Casemiro/Eriksen can't be starting against teams like Newcastle(I wouldn't even start them ever again for a Premier League game). I know we had suspensions, but that midfield duo is just not it.

And he needs to insert 1 attacker as a wing-back role. Our results with 2 defenders as wing-backs are pretty poor.

I think generally the performances have improved with fluky results, but that was really bad today. No positives at all.

He should have come to you in the summer.

You should have kept RVN until then.

I said it at the time too. But if the club is committed to the long-term at the cost of the short-term then it might accelerate things. That is the only upshot besides the few good enough players at the club getting more used to his ideas (and hopefully some youths promoted).

Had Ruud stayed though and done relatively OK, like 6-8th, maybe it would be harder to confront the fact that the squad is shite.

You've said nothing wrong so don't worry. Most of us know this squad is diabolical.

People keep saying he needs to change things up. No system is getting the best out of this squad because it's rubbish. Plain and simple.

We don't have the players for any formation.
Maybe so but it wasn't this bad under any other formation. At the moment we are bleeding out, maybe we should try something to mitigate it ?

The starting lineup is on him. Casemiro and Eriksen stopped working months ago. But the overall mistakes are not on him. Not at all. I'm disappointed with a lot of posts here, but that's on me, I forgot how reactionary people are.

He's picked an absolutely awful team tonight, it shouldn't be surprising that playing two geriatric players in the engine room against a physically really strong Newcastle team would lead to us getting played off the park.

Casemiro and Eriksen playing together is tantamount to throwing the game.

It's a bit Rangnick-esque. A bunch of players who don't fit the football struggling, ego wars and bad football while we're waiting on transfer windows to rebalance the squad

He’s the right manager but this is a big change, doing this change mid season when we were already struggling is a mistake

He wanted to cone in the summer but was told now or never. Should have got him locked down for next season and give Ruud a contract as interim till the summer

Even he came in mid season is not the excuses to perform so poorly. We didn't expect him to get Top 4/5. We just want some decent style of play. This is not too much to ask from a good manager. But so far he is worse than ETH. Even RVN was better.

Its been a month or so and its clear that this bunch is uncoachable. Why is he taking the league for granted? Enough with this system bs, we are desperate for points and the only way to do it is use a temporary system to get anything out of these turds

Reactionary? I'm not reactionary. How dare you, Sir. I demand a fight.

Sad too see people turn on yet another manager whilst these fecking Jokers can’t string 3 passes together

If the manager can't prepare his team not to get whipped, we have no hope left

My expectation with Amorim coming in is that the team would be very pragmatic and rather defensively solid but similar to Ten Hag the defensive issues are stemming from poor positional structure.

The issue I can see even if Ruben makes it to summer is that even with wingbacks purchased for this system, it won't gloss over how exposed the teams looks when opposition players are running at the back three.

It's even more concerning when you assess the only real weak link in this defense is Martinez, is replacing Martinez going to make the entire back-line solid? I personally can't see it, so this conceding goals issue is likely very apparent irrespective if Amorim has spent 0 or 300-400 million.

If he had bothered to do any scouting, he’d have known that you can’t play a pair of geriatrics in midfield in front of the slow clown show in defense against an Eddie Howe team.

Rangnick looks more prescient by the day. Should have kept him on as DOF, no doubt about it

It's possible that you don't understand the phrase "getting the best out of".
....
Maybe so but it wasn't this bad under any other formation. At the moment we are bleeding out, maybe we should try something to mitigate it ?
We were definitely this bad under ten Hag. For over a year. We were being outplayed week in, week out, conceding 20+ shots every game.

The only difference is our luck has run out. These players have proven that, regardless of the system, the majority of them aren't good enough.

He’s making mistakes and hopefully he learns from them but needs to stick with the plan. The club has been all about pretending players are better than they are and persisting with them. Playing out dated and pragmatic football to mask limitations and hope for the best.

This is shit and will get worse over next two games but have to work through it and try and hope that it improves over second half of the season. Ideally we get one or two players out the door and one or two in.

Club needs a cleanse, atmosphere/vibe is toxic at times........ somebody do some spiritual magic shit and get this sorted please?

In hindsight him coming in now is actually good for the long term. He gets to see the shower of shite at the club and IF he survives till the summer, which I fecking hope he does, he can get rid of them and bring in proper players to suit his system.
