Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

People think he can do no wrong as of now.

Among some obvious decisions made today in the starting line up, he can’t keep starting Dalot and Mazourari as his wing backs. It’s in the data, we have not scored a single goal from open play when they start. You either change the formation or experiment with other players. It’s nonsense.

I don’t want him to get the sack, but people can make constructive criticism.

The problem is, he's given too many interviews on it now too. Its a hard one to make a u-turn on at this point, considering how vocally adamant he's been for months. Potter got hammered when he changed his system at Chelsea.
Funny I was trying to think of similar examples of what we have seen so far. Potter at Chelsea is quite similar. Although he looked visibly terrified when things started bad. At least Amorim still cuts a confident bloke which he needs to be, as he is now in a shitstorm and with Liverpool and Arsenal in the cup on the way. It’s likely going to get worse.

100%. Can't keep ignoring an open fact.

I'm fully behind him still. If he abandons his system and tries to adapt with a different formation in the hope of winning games, and fails miserably, then I will be questioning his future.

In fear of getting a ban, I will reiterate what I said before this season. There is no player in this united side I would have at Bayern. Your problem is way deeper than the manager, your squad is not good enough to compete at the higher levels. And your dressing room seems to be toxic at times. There's no unity.
Nobody gives a shit about which player would get in Bayern XI. Read the posts above, everyone is in agreement that we are barely championship standard. You’re not stating anything sensational

You wont get banned for that

You've said nothing wrong so don't worry. Most of us know this squad is diabolical.

People keep saying he needs to change things up. No system is getting the best out of this squad because it's rubbish. Plain and simple.

It's beyond stupid to stick with a stupid when we don't have the players for it and we haven't had enough training to apply it.
Beyond stupid
We don't have the players for any formation.

Yeah he isn't without blame. We can all see the current wingback pairing isn't doing it. Needs to switch that up and could help overall

Well, that was not the response I got before the season.

Amorim has made a lot of basic mistakes. Casemiro and Eriksen CM? FFS. Theres been numerous and I cant be bothered to list them all.

He has to find a fomula to keep his job, and quick.

I don’t understand his view of keeping a formation that our squad is clearly incapable of playing. Get us through this season then change things in the summer FFS

I really hope he isnt sacked.
Me too. I’m not at all confident in him though but I really don’t want to see yet another failure and if it happens soon it will turn out to be the worst ever Utd manager, it’s just sad now.

I thought the exact same thing, I tuned into the 2-0 score line and the Potter Chelsea endeavor came to mind.

Wait theres actually people doubting him this early? Chill the feck out. Theres a reason he asked to join at the end of the season.

What on earth? Of course he isn’t

Wouldn't like to call it in all honesty.

If those results happened, and I'm not saying they will it would be 3 points out of 24 in the league, and 9 losses in 11 games in all comps. A win against the might Viktoria Plzen in there.

That would put anyone under pressure for their job, even a newly promoted side at the start of the season that was expecting to be in trouble.

I don't think we lose to Southampton though!

People need to understand that its not the system. 3-4-3, 4-4-3 and 5-4-1.. everything has been tried. We dont do basics well. We dont press, we dont pass, we cant shoot to save our life. We dont defend crosses, we dont stop crosses enough, we dont control ball well in midfield. We just arent good at any of the basics that is required.

Technical stuff comes later. This group of players are shocking

Bummer. I dunno what to say. They have to do better. And when I say “they”, I mean, Ruben, the players, the club, everyone ☹️

I really hope he isnt sacked.
He wont be, its a nonsense scenario. Everyone can see theres a wider personnel issue on the pitch with Wilcox and Berrada in full receipt of it.

I still have belief in him and thinks he needs more time and that he will eventually get it right. But, there are some worrying decisions. Why do we keep insisting on 2 full backs rather than 2 attacking players on the wing-back positions? We look worse both offensively and defensively like that. It's night and day. Why start Zirkzee with how bad he's been? He was so bad again, that he had to be brought off at 32 mins. I don't think that was a surprise or anything.

Dalot has been consistently dreadful too and should be benched. Surely Antony couldn't be worse ? In fact, Antony has looked semi decent as a wing back in comparison.

First time I put blame on him - Eriksen/Case with Joelinton as a runner is the stuff nightmares are made of and Zirkzee just isn't good enough.
That said, once that issue was sorted, we played ok but the damage was done.

People saying he should get sacked are nutjobs - but no more line ups like today.

Can we just stop playing with 5 defenders with no width, no attacking threat and CB all over the place. How long can he keep throwing the games away like this when we wont be able to get all the players he need for the system he prefers in January?

I’ll take that bet. Absolutely no chance he gets sacked.
If he gets thrashed by Southampton and extend our games we haven't scored in to 6 and if we concede 5-8 against Liverpool there is some chance he will go. But even then I agree I don't think it is likely. Berrada has hung his hat on this situation and will need to see it out.

Surely he will have to swallow his pride and change things. He now needs to get the most of what he has available. Which is normal for any new manager coming in mid season.

They get into the club try and stabilise things then after implement new ideas

He seems to have approached it all backwards and it’s very concerning.
Yes he screwed it all up. he got hired not because of the system but because he won games with available team whilst playing exciting football no more no less.

He is out of his depth, getting team back in the game by getting Manio in then removing Casimero as woeful as he was and expecting Ericson to control the midfield. poor! With more losses he is getting confidence of team down to the ground learned nothing from his football carrier and much less from his time at university. You need to set and achieve small goals on the path to glory. consistently miss those goals and there will be no success. Very basic rule in change management.

I don't care if maz and dalot can't play WB, this is the system from now on and we make it work, season is a write off anyway. Not sure what people want, Dyche-ball and scrap out some draws? Feck that, we're not getting relegated.

I am not sure why people compare Amorim to Klopp. So far, this looks more like Nuno Espírito Santo at Tottenham.

We have regressed under him instead of improving. Can't believe that he can be worse than ETH. What's the style of play? I don't see any style at all.

He needs another 700m and 24 new players again? deja vu? We need to ask the right question. Is he the right manager?

Wait theres actually people doubting him this early? Chill the feck out. Theres a reason he asked to join at the end of the season.

I don’t doubt him at all and really think he is the right man. But the club have seriously hung him out to dry with this squad.

I’ll take that bet. Absolutely no chance he gets sacked.

Fans and media will be on his back if we lost all 3, including what is now a must win at home to Southampton. He deserves to be sacked if we lose 7 on the bounce whilst not making a single tactical change. I don’t mind him having a long term aim of 3-4-3 but until he has the players maybe it should be put on the back burner this season.

For now we’d settle at competing at lower levels
