I know this isn't even a remotely original observation but you see a starting 11 on paper like the one tonight and you realise once again the absolute state of what he has walked into and you do feel for him.
That back three should be an acceptable level of quality, in theory. Beyond that you've got two natural full backs shoehorned in as wingbacks, two geriatrics in midfield, two centre forwards who rarely score (one of them not even playing up front) and then a ton of expectation on the one other lad, who has been doing well but frankly isn't good enough to carry a team.
