Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

So you’re just acknowledging your take is a two-game knee-jerk? Thanks, appreciate the confirmation.
Two games? Its 9 games into his tenure. But according to you he needs much more than that to know his best 11 players to pick which is beyond laughable. But enjoy the losses as the rotation continues.

Not much more he can do with this crop. Outperforming every team in the underlyings but lacking that cutting edge currently. No need to go overboard. Accept the season is over and it’ll feel easier.
At this rate it’s not over yet, Wolves beat us next week and we’ll be dragged into a relegation fight with the mentality this squad has.

He can't play the same 11 every game because it would just lead to fatigue and injuries which would be even worse.

How long have you been watching football? Do you realise that when games came this close together Fergie would have rotated his team just as much? And that’s ignoring forced changes from players getting injured.

xG is a bullshit stat. No one who watched the game can come and say that we didn't deserve to lose it convincingly.
You don't need xG to see we had much more chances than Bournemouth. I would ask you what fecking game did you watch if you think that result is even close to being realistic.

How is it clueless, we are playing awful football and being thrashed at home by teams we should be beating easilly while conceeding a lot more goals than we were under ETH.

We were much better in the games under Ruud than we have been in a few of the games under Ruben Amorim
a) The scoreline didn't reflect the game. They took their chances, we didn't (and we had more and bigger chances than them)
b) "Beating easily"? Bournemouth have been one of the best teams in the league this season, while we've been shit. So how should we be beating them "easily"?

He was being given a chicken with salmonela in it and expected to turn it into a safe to eat and delicious delicacy.

If we go into next season still with Hojlund and Zirkzee up front, you can say bye bye to top 4 early. Theyre the type of players who need 3+ chances to score one. We cant do that.

Of course he needs more rotation, he came mid-season, this is basically his pre-season.
100% correct. I said this as well in the match thread, but not bringing in Amorim in the summer was a massive mistake by the club, which ashworth paid for with his job. Amorim should not waiver from his principles just to get better results, the players need to adapt and put better performances out there. Today was all on the players not Amorim.

Your nickname is correct.

We clearly deserved THE VERY LEAST a draw from this game.

As someone still unsure about him, I don't know how he's getting all this blame. United have been better at every metric except scoring goals and all the goals have been from very dumb mistakes.

Today is fecking frustrating, we once again chucked a game away we played ok in in large chunks by inexplicable moments of individual stupidity. But some of the talking points that people are coming out with are blatantly prearrived at opinions that have no bearing to what just happened.

You can see that with how many people during the match were howling about 3ATB as if it makes Zirkzee suddenly challenge properly for a header.

People should be livid that we managed to lose a game 3-0 against a side who created nothing; it was a masterclass in self sabotage from players who have developed a habit of doing it.

This is 100% on the players.

Amorim made poor decisions today, and it’s OK to admit that. The starting shouts for Zirkzee and Malacia to start with. To a lesser degree one could also question the Mainoo Ugarte midfield with Bruno as one of the AMs. Another big mistake was the Ugarte sub - though understandable since he had been booked - we completely succumbed without him.

Managers aren’t infallible and that’s OK

Still better than the shit Ten Hag was serving up for 2 full seasons.
Yes that is true. But mark this, we will not win the league in the next decade with a specialist coach. We tried with 3 coaches already and now we do not have the money to replace most of the players to get team that fits "profile". Only a good coach which gets the best out of the players available will succeed.

If you actually look at these last 9 matches, if we can somehow sort out our set piece defending and bring it back to the average goals conceded percentage, we'd actually be in a far better off situation.

How are we so bad when we constantly have the likes of Maguire, De Ligt etc. in the team who are tall players.

It's so clear watching the team under him that just simply sticking in two top quality attackers completely changes the narrative. Not to mention how shite the wingbacks are

Some big brain thinking going on in this thread. We really have some of the smort-est idiots in any fanbase.

Silly. Calm down and see if you think the same tomorrow. You’re just mad.
I’m not being serious but those who think it’s impossible need to give their heads a wobble. We are in retched form and playing as bad as anyone in the league. Shipping goals and struggling to score regularly. No first choice 11 with rotation not helping.

Not anywhere close to writing him off, but 0-3 at home is pretty bad, even early on. We're supposed to be building momentum.
No but he has 7 Points from 6 PL games if that becomes 10 points from 9/10 PL watch the pressure build ?

He’s been put in a difficult position, previous manager spent 600m on dross, he didn’t get a pre season with the players and won’t get any new players in January. Look at Klopps first seasat Liverpool, he also started in October and although performances improved a bit they finished 8th.

Genuinely, the last few games have been very very bad.

We have regressed massively from not giving up chances to leaking goals anyhowly.
Amorim needs to steady the ship and be ruthless. The fall off is coming up ETH style.

Leaking 17 goals in less than 1 month is shocking...

Today was bad, really bad.

Now, I'm not suggesting 'Amorim out' before anyone shits a brick. He's got an uphill task to get us going again and i'm not sure how he will do that after so many defeats already in his short tenure. Moyes struggled after those december back to back defeats, LVG did too in this 2nd season when we lost 3 in a row. RR, ETH, all suffered the same. The point being is its so hard to recover from these kind of defeats. I worry Amorim will suffer the same fate. I hope to god i'm wrong!

He deserves praise when we play well and criticism when we don’t. Today was god awful - even by the low standards we’re used too.

No matter how little time he’s had on the training pitch and the lack of quality in the squad, he should be able to set up the team to not get hammered by Bournemouth at home or - at the very least - pose an attacking threat.

The fact that he failed to do that doesn’t mean he won’t be a success here, but it does mean that he needs to do better identifying the correct players for they way he wants to play and give them better instructions on the pitch.
That's a fairly reasonable view.

Today was simply a bad day at the office. The number of bad, touches, passes and mistake was simply staggering. Even the usually reliable Mazraoui was bit by stupiditus. Both Bruno and Mainoo were terrible for the third. Like I said in a post earlier, it was a pathetic performance.

I would like to see Ruben just giving up on some of the players and putting in some more youngsters in the first team.

I have sympathy for the situation he’s been put in.

No transfer window to get players critical for his system, gets a team with poor quality and low confidence in the busiest time of the year with no real time to work on tactics, and then immediately has a high-profile player throwing the toys out the pram.

He’s gotten a raw deal. Hope we haven’t wasted a good coach on an impossible situation.

I think some fans are just happier moaning about the manager. They’ve done it for so long they don’t know anything else.

xG means basically feck all when you're down 0-3 and the other team are happy to sit back for large parts of the game defending their lead.

It’s going to be crap again after this and many more times. Everyone was happy to accept this in theory but can’t take it when it actually happens.

xG is a bullshit stat. No one who watched the game can come and say that we didn't deserve to lose it convincingly.
xG is not a BS stat.. but interpreting it after a single game is pointless. I think xG tells a story after 15, 20, 30 games or so.

For example, if yoh toss a coin, the expected probability is 50:50 for heads or tails. If you guess tails and heads come up, is the coin rigged? Course not, you just need a bigger sample.

If we had a higher xG than Bournemouth and didn't win, unlike the overly simplistic example above, it does tell us something. But we should really be looking at xG, xA over a longer stretch of games.

If on a probabilistic basis, as in, if we create chances that shoud result in 50 goals, but we only score 35, then that's clearly a problem. Same for xA. I would hazard a guess we underperform our xG by a decent %, and also have a higher goals conceded than our xA. Now you probably don't need xG and xA to know we have too many individual mistakes at the back and we aren't ruthless up front, but there's certainly some value to take in drilling down to those stats.

Who are the main culprits? What flanks does our xA underperformance come from.. etc etc?

Not said a bad word about Amorim since he arrived but the result was on him today. Shouldn't have selected Malacia and took off Ugarte instead of Mainoo.

Full trust him in, we need some new players in January.

Poor today - front 3 was never going to work as they all come deep and want the ball to feet. Nowhere near enough pace in behind.

Second time this week where taking Ugarte off was the wrong decision.

Hmm - if we don’t beat Wolves..

It’s going to be crap again after this and many more times. Everyone was happy to accept this in theory but can’t take it when it actually happens.
Happens every fecking time. Will need time, will need patience, will need backing.

Three bad results and pitchforks
