Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

He could possibly be at fault for picking the players but you can say he’s rotating because he needs to see what each of his inherited players is capable of.

But a lot of these players are either just not good enough or their hearts not in it. Recent departures like Martial who was paid a boatload now plays in Greece. Pellistri plays in Greece. Mejibri is in the Champioship. Kambwala is a benchwarmer in Spain. Brandon Williams who was amazingly on £40k a week is still a free agent. Varane with his injury problems went to newly promoted Como, played once, got injured and retired

There’s been so much chaff in the playing squad it’s unreal.

I suppose the idea is that those players won't be here for very long. Hence the whole having to endure this short term pain thing
This is bullshit. Who exactly will be leaving in the summer then. If we can't get decent money for outgoing players there'll be nothing coming in of note.

I like what he’s trying to do and think he’s been refreshing to listen to, but he’s about to come under huge scrutiny.

Hardest job in football in my opinion, and he seems like a nice guy. One or two more poor results and everyone - the fans, the opposition and the media will have a field day. Can he handle that level of pressure?

Once you find yourself in that hole, it’s so, so, very hard to reemerge. I’m on the manager’s side and think he needs to be given a lot of time, but I am starting to fear for the guy.

Newcastle, Liverpool and arsenal up soon. Could very easily get ugly. Does he have the personality to recover? He's so young too so I have my doubts.

We barely have players enough to field a decent eleven, so obviously his rotation will absolutely destroy us this season.

It wasn't laughable though, you've just decided it was, which is fair enough. What I wanted to see is our attack continuing to click, but starting Zirkzee today wasn't a great call. He offered absolutely nothing.

Yes, it was. It was laughable on the basis of our players and our quality relative to other teams in this league

I don’t see how you can’t see this - we are not close to top 4 quality. Even the season we finished 3rd under ETH, our offensive was terrible and we were bailed out by a freak Rashford scoring season

This is a squad that probably deserves to be top half of the table. Our level has fallen as other teams have improved. We are in the pack.

No one is writing him off. People are rightly asking questions after 2 back to back home defeats against bloody Forest and Bournemouth. And we keep conceding, all the time. So ofcourse people will question the formation

What about the formation has seen us concede more then? None of the goals today looked like they were anything to do with formation.

I like him and I knew Bournemouth would win today but he can’t be starting Zirkzee and Malacia. Like you’ve been here long enough to realise they are two garbage players. Time to pick a settled side.

And again whilst we knew we’d lose a fair few games we can’t be losing games in this manner.
I’m also not sure what’s going on at half time but that’s quite a few games now we’ve come out looking drunk.

We’ll see what he’s made of after this but we’re very likely to lose each of our next four games and he’s gonna have to find a way to come out the other side because the scrutiny from the media will be massive.

If he can't keep the boat afloat while implementing this new formation, then he'll be without a job soon. It's really that simple. This is just far from good enough. He's the one that had a look at these garbage defenders and decided to have an extra one on the pitch every game.

Usually you get a response from the players after a loss, especially when playing at home. Instead, it was all flat and uninspiring from the first second. That is extremely worrying.

As someone still unsure about him, I don't know how he's getting all this blame. United have been better at every metric except scoring goals and all the goals have been from very dumb mistakes.

I'm all for Amorim and do believe he can potentially be the right guy. But I'm starting to think it wouldn't have been a bad idea letting Ruud finish the season. There's a chance Amorim will get too tainted this season and there won't be any belief in his project left. We need a MASSIVE rebuild but do we have the money for it? Can we rebuild fast enough?

The premise that "well, Ruben is playing this system and he's going to move on the ill suited players quickly" is a nice idea for Football Manager but in reality, I'm not sure how realistic it is. You need to find willing suitors to offload these players and genuinely, I struggle to see anyone willing to pay fees that are acceptable to the club (that allows us to recoup some of the outlay) and then fork out the wages they're on here. Take Maguire, he gets praise for sticking with us and being acceptable when called upon but he could have taken a paycut and been a senior figure at an Everton, West Ham or Newcastle type club but he chose to stay here, take the £200,000 a week and play when called upon. For that reason, I can't see clubs willing to buy or certain players willing to move on when they can live the easy life at United on good money.

If he starts Bruno and Dalot every game we going no where . Dalot isn’t a defender or a midfielder no idea what he brings in the team , Bruno isn’t a number 8 or 9 or 6 .

Yup… made miles more chances.

And conceded 3 goals from individual mistakes.

The setup worked. Unfortunately we have assembled a very very average side.

Especially our attackers… the worst collection of forwards I’ve ever seen at utd

His honeymoon will likely be a short one. Needs to stick to his beliefs in the media especially

It's harsh, but it's true. You simply cannot be thrashed time and time again at OT.

I don't get what people think this is? He can't put a FM or Fifa cheat and say fully fit squad

He said he has a game basically every other day and said early that his team selections currently are based on fitness a lot more than anything

Some of you lot saying sack him or he is worse than ETH need to get a grip. The fact that he gets to see how shit most these players are is great, they don't get to fool him in pre-season

First off I’ve not watched the match. Can’t say I agree with his subs and yet again our set piece defence has fecked us over. That said we’ve created a fair amount with absolutely shocking finishing costing us. On another day this would be a comfortable win.

There probably needs to be a compromise though. He needs to find what suits these players best and then play the way he wants to when he gets better suited players in. We’re nowhere near solid enough at the back.

People expecting us to stream roll other teams thinking it’s our right.

We have been bad under many managers, we are not a formidable team. Our quality really is mid table, we are in a rebuild phase whether you like it or not. We have to establish that respect by rebuilding and beating them.

Fans are saying they want him gone, then what? Same thing again and again and again. New manager comes in, team let him down and he’s gone. Rinse and repeat.

Give the guy some time, stop being dramatic.

It was a wedding in an office and at the desk fifteen minutes later. No honeymoon.

For all the people saying he was successful before, yeh, in the Portuguese league. Many teams in that division would struggle to get results in the championship. If Amorim had proven himself with a few clubs, maybe a different league, people would have some justification in defending him. But, as far as we know, just like ETH, maybe he was just lucky to have had a good squad available and things clicked leading to some success. It's an altogether different challenge in the PL, one he might not be good enough to adjust to.

Some managers only ever work out at smaller clubs, plenty examples of this, Emery for example, couldn't handle pressure and demands at Arsenal, but at Villa, who are never really competing for the league, he's found his level and having a bit of success.

I think he is still rotating the squad to find his best first 11.

For example, Yoro vs Mazroui will find Mazroui's best position.

Dalot RB vs LB performances may help him decide things aswell.

However, these rotating do need to stop soon because his best 11 is getting pretty obvious minus a few players like Garnacho & Mainoo.

Another great chance missed. He's got this team creating chances out the wazoo. Very promising.

He's working with shit. Needs time to build his squad. Half these players wouldn't get a game for Bournemouth.
It's true he is working with Shit, but he doesn't have the time, he needs to make something out of this shit group, he has to because then we will know he will do wonders with a better group

Rather people want to admit it or not, he does need results. The idea that we can keep losing like this until the end of the season and everything will be rosey is pure fantasy. Yes, he also needs to bring in some quality but I think there's still a line this season that can't be crossed too far, and ultimately he was brought in to work with this group of players and improve our dire situation under ETH.

Give him time.
We are creating tons of chances and concede stupid goals. Players so out of form for honestly how long now? We'll get there, but it will hurt from time to time, as he said from the beginning.

The issue is that the losing habit, the lack of resilience and the low effort standards and lack of confidence have been inherited. It’s not easily broken.

Correct. I would have hired him in the summer, mid season is tough with a complete change of formation and tactics. The season was a write off anyway, so for me planning for next season was more important.

It was a mistake to rest players against that Spurs side. Win there and build more confidence going into this match. Pity.

Not only that, play our strongest team and we're in a semi final. Considering that we are not likely to have a strong league campaign, doing well in the cups is the only thing making this season worth anything.

We rotated, lost and now...

Subbing Ugarte can be viewed as brave or idiotic depending on your perspective.

Also for those saying Ten Hag was better or no worse are mental. He built this squad and still has no style of play or clear direction. Amorim at least we know what he is trying to do, whether it works with these players or not is different. He will make signings based on a way he wants to play

These shit players we have moaned about for years have nowhere to hide now, Amorim owes none of them anything

Defence and conceding goals has got far worst under Amorim.
EPL, League Cup & Europa....

ETH - 13 games 16 goals conceded - 1.23 goals/game
Amorim - 9 games 17 conceded - 1.88 goals/game

Approx. 50% worst.
