Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

You don't change your whole philosophy because a bunch of useless cnuts can't perform.

His philosophy and tactics work, hence his success.

Why the feck should he change all that for these useless twats. They are the problem and should be sent packing.
Your philosophy should not be tied to one formation to the extent you’re incapable of adjusting if the material doesn’t suit the system. Adapting to the squad at your disposal while still being true to your philosophy is part of being a good coach.

5 at the back if you're playing 2 defenders as full back is just brain dead and it's never gonna work.

Idiotic to write a manager after a few games considering what he walked into. I'm all for being hasty in getting rid of managers but at least give the man a proper pre-season and some signings ffs.

It wasn't laughable before this game, we just needed to follow up a promising win at City with another promising result. It's laughable now, yes
It was. Everyone is beating city. The squad is devoid of goals, we can't get away from that.

Just fecking stand behind Ruben. Give him a full season and two transfer windows before you decide he's not good enough.

I believe he's more than good enough and refuse a few crappy results change my mind.

Not anywhere close to writing him off, but 0-3 at home is pretty bad, even early on. We're supposed to be building momentum.

Agreed. It’s funny that people are crying out for him to change his tactics and philosophy which made him successful. There probably the same people that was crying because ETH didn’t stick with his philosophy.

The idea of top 4 was laughable to me before the game. I said in the top 4 thread that there is no chance because our attack is shite. I don't know what others have been watching to believe we could ever finish 4th

Until we clear out any reminders of Ten haag I'll reserve judgement on Ruben.

Let him bring his own players in that suit his system.

None of this squad is at the standard of United.

We of course need suitable players, but I hope it's not just a head coach's decision. We need to have a coherent vision here where it's not dependent on one individual. So we need to change.

These players couldn’t even build anything out of LEGO.

He's made some mistakes today, as he has in the odd game, that's going to happen at any level and happens when things are going well, too. It is an awful result, of which he's certainly played his part but he can't have been expected to turn it around in a month. The squad is, at best, toxic and devoid of the quality required to play for Manchester United. It's years of mismanagement and poor decision making coming to roost.

Even if he can’t get our points average up until the Summer and we finish 13th, I’m still giving him all of next season too. He’s taken over an absolutely piss poor squad.

My only criticism is to stop playing Dalot, Malacia and Zirkzee

You will LOSE games if they are all in a team of already mid players

Btw, what a fecking job Iriola has done at Bournemouth. They're a half decent team and bloody exciting to watch.

Knew the formation would be brought up again and again by fans whenever we lose under this guy. Unless something happens in January we probably aren't getting anywhere near the top 5 this year. Yet another rebuild is in order and he'll get time, thankfully.

Still think Europa League is the best option for the club to get champions league football. More realistic than top 4.

It's obviously too early to write him off but why did we hire a three at the back coach when Iraola and Frank were right there. He's trying to force through a system with players who are spectacularly ill suited to it.

I like what he’s trying to do and think he’s been refreshing to listen to, but he’s about to come under huge scrutiny.

Hardest job in football in my opinion, and he seems like a nice guy. One or two more poor results and everyone - the fans, the opposition and the media will have a field day. Can he handle that level of pressure?

Once you find yourself in that hole, it’s so, so, very hard to reemerge. I’m on the manager’s side and think he needs to be given a lot of time, but I am starting to fear for the guy.

It wasn't laughable though, you've just decided it was, which is fair enough. What I wanted to see is our attack continuing to click, but starting Zirkzee today wasn't a great call. He offered absolutely nothing.

I suppose the idea is that those players won't be here for very long. Hence the whole having to endure this short term pain thing

How can you truly say that?? We've created so much more with Højlund on

We went three down and Bournemouth have laid off obviously we had more of the ball yet done very little with it

Tp
The tactics do look a a bit shit tbf.

Playing 5 defenders, at home, against a club like Bournemouth, when you’re Manchester United, is pretty inexcusable.

I like Amorim, but it’s not been a very impressive start. We looked better under Ruud.
Totally agree and he thinks he’s one step ahead of everyone if he got 10 points from 10 games then we might need to at least sow the seed, was never convinced at 3421 with so many of our players that don’t fit the system !

His first 6 Pl games with home games against Forest, Everton and Bournemouth and away game against Ipswich is 7 points that’s a shocking start for such a so called clever modern coach if we are looking at 10 PL defeats by mid January he will be under unbelievable pressure !!!

I mean, from his perspective, why join United? The ultimate poison chalice and a strong possibility you’ll feck your career up.
High risk, high reward.
He called it the biggest challenge in football atm.
He's not wrong.

I don't see how anyone with a functioning brain can conclude it's anything but the players/recruitment. They have failed every single manager of the last decade. We need to give Amorim time and pray he's the one to root out the culture at the club.

We really should have put some of these away, had plenty of opportunities

No one is writing him off. People are rightly asking questions after 2 back to back home defeats against bloody Forest and Bournemouth. And we keep conceding, all the time. So ofcourse people will question the formation

He must be shell shocked by how bad the individual quality of the squad is, in an ideal world he would chuck 90% of it away and start again.

He needs a bit of backing in Jan, somehow to get some players in for team balance. Round pegs in square holes all over the squad (again).

Even before that... Højlund has much more of a presence and we can actually keep balls high up the field because of him. I'm not saying Højlund is the second coming... but he's better than Zirkzee, who's worse than me it seems.

And here I am complaining we aren't first in our league.

You know we are shit when you don't get a new manager bounce. Been zero difference results wise from ETH in reality. Probably shows it's on the players as much as anything.

Im sorry but having us parking the bus against Arsenal, getting thrashed at home by Forest and Bournemouth, needing to come from behind to beat poor sides in the Europa League, struggling against a crap City side, and gifting Spurs a League Cup semi final place is nowhere near good enough

Really, really disappointing, but we can expect a few more results like this before it gets better. It will get better though, I'm sure of it. And there's no way he should change his formation.
