Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Back him with the right players and we'll do well under him

True. But he’s also got a tune out of these players. We’re seeing a style and we’re dominating games away from home. Not like the previous manager.

I think he has improved things , he looks a very good manager/coach so far but is hamstrung with the squad he has inherited. He will know this squad is not the squad that can challenge for a title no matter how much work you put into them. Hopefully he is as good at identifying good players as he is at coaching.

Amorim paid the price for too much experimenting and too much trust in players that the football suits should have told him have no chance here. Disappointed because I think Spurs weren't very good. Oh well. Let's hope the tinkering stops soon.
what tinkering? It's the fecking league cup, it's meant to involve rotation

It's clearly not just that. Allowing other players to get used to this style in actual game is just as vital especially when the game in question isn't that important.

No point getting really poor footballers used to the system. It’s a waste of time and energy. Antony, Lindelof and Bayindir shouldn’t start for United again.

We are looking so, so much better. In every way. Our pressing, our balance, our resilience, our intensity.

Don't care too much about the loss, just very happy with just about everything so far.

I think he has already shown that he is trying to build something but this club is completely broken & a lot of the players have no confidence so I think wins matter a lot. After the City game if we had played a full team and won at this ground the confidence it would have given the team would have been amazing. Chance missed imo

It's meant to involve rotation? Why, is there some new rule I don't know about?
Our greatest ever manager rotated loads. It was one of his greatest strengths and enabled us to fight on every front every season

8 games so far: 4 wins - 1 draw - 3 losses | 17 goals scored, 14 conceded.
The sheer stats.

I‘m happy with our progress - we will come good. Right signings needed.

17 goals in 8 games! His teams are averaging scoring 2 goals every game this season. Glad to see we are already sticking to that. Just got to cut off defensive mistakes and we start winning more games.

Of course it would have been great to win, but I think the players will still feel encouraged by the performance. They feel exactly what we do, confidence is still growing.

We probably should have won this match, but it's not a disaster that we didn't.

One thing we have back under this manager is the team spirit and fighting spirit. When we go down, I’m always confident we can come back and win the game.

And then lost to Bournemouth on Sunday because they are knackered, no thanks,I'll take the hit tonight if it means we win on Sunday.
He said as much pre game.

And how many of them was by mistakes.
I am not sure what point you are trying to make. These players have been trained, selected and sent out by the Head Coach to undertake his tactics. They were 3 nil down and lost.

Because a strong keeper doesn’t let that happen. He comes out and gets the ball and if the player gets in the way, too bad. He is way too soft and timid and pays for it.
If VAR was at the game it probably gets ruled out that goal.

What tinkering? He needs to rotate during this period. We have quite a few injury prone players, so getting them to play 2 games in a week is a challenge.

The only two players he hasn’t rotated are Dalot and Fernandes, and that’s because they the only players that manage to stay fit the whole season.

Ya especially when we are in the midst of playing 5 matches in 14 days and if you look at it the league cup is the least important of the 4 we were in. League we are 6 points off 4th with 22 matches still to play and Europa we currently sit in the top 8 which would see us thru to the rd of 16 if we can win our last 2 of the league phase.

I like how we didn't give up and how we pinned them back in the second half. However, I do think chance creation when we're not forced to attack remains a problem. The front 3 isn't clicking and Dalot has no idea what to do with the space given to him on the left. Also, we need to get better athletes in the team. We're too slow and weak all across the pitch.

His job is not to identify players but only to approve them.
The squad is going to get better . This Summer was a hit : Ugarte, Deligt, Mazraoui and Yoro are all good additions.
I am hopefull. Amorim is great.

Don't really care about League Cup, the weaker players remain the weaker players and we need more athleticism in general.
In a way it's good, he's legitimately giving everyone a chance which should help him long term and also seeing first hand where we need to add quality.

There is a bit of fight in this squad now, and that’s down to Ruben and his coaches. Yes there will be pain but you clearly see what he wants to do, and he’s giving everyone chances to see who will be staying and who won’t.

I like what he is trying to do, you can see there are a handful of players who will me useful to him, unfortunately though a large number aren’t fit for purpose.

The easiest thing to do would be go back to basics, be compact and try and counter but then it’s starting from scratch in the summer. He’s setting out his plan and giving everyone a chance to show if they can be part of it. Going to be a lot of ups and downs but fingers crossed it will give us something to build on.

Plenty of positives. Individual and concentration errors (conceding when a half begins) remain though.

It's extremely early days but i'm starting to be more optimistic about certain players and how they fit in. Amad is the obvious beneficiary, but I think Bruno has been playing pretty well despite people arguing about him, Ugarte looks fecking immense at times, Yoro looks like a player who could easily play in a back 3 as the RCB, and De Ligt hasn't done much wrong when he's played.

I think there will be a surprising amount of players who turn it around. The more they get confident in their roles and their place on the pitch, the fewer mistakes they’ll make.

The decision by the United board to insist he come now or never when he initially wanted to come at the end of the season was a very good ultimatum to give him.

Imagine wasting next season as well going through this process where he is learning about the players and their limitations and with some their potential.

Even just improving from set pieces is going to to see a big boost to results.

I'm trying to keep my feet on the ground at the moment because there's still going to be an element of other managers working out his system and how to exploit weaknesses in it. But the way his substitutes impact the game is a big positive change.

As has been said, some better players (like a natural left sided wing back) could really help things along.

Actually amazed at how much better we look. With a rotated squad away from home to a team that beat us 3-0 at home 2 months ago we still went toe to toe if not dominated in large parts. He’s genuinely worked wonders with this lot who looked completely and utterly hopeless not too long ago
