Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

2 crucial points dropped but I’m sure he’ll get it right. What gives me hope is the fact he knows where the problems are. He’s identifying them so hopefully he can solve them

On thing I didnt get was Amad and Dalot playing on their 'wrong' side for crosses in the box.
Amad was on the right side. No different to him playing RW. He created our goal with his right foot but he also looked dangerous when cutting in onto his left. Dalot is just poor and hopefully Malacia takes his spot.

Unfortunately here in England you do speak a lot and get interviewed a lot. Especially at the biggest club in the world. It’s not like sporting where you have 1 interview a week maybe.
It's not like you are required to do so by law.

The club obviously likes the media attention. He would have known that before he joined us. I’m sure at every team in the world you have a pre match interview and one after the game

He said that Evans should have pushed up to press in midfield a lot more.
That Bruno was better when he dropped deeper but that he is always looking for the long ball from there & we can‘t always play long balls.
And that Zirkzee was supposed to push up to be a second number 9 but didn‘t
Ed Sheeran said all this? On what channel?

Amorim has maybe 1 forward good enough for this club, one capable wingback and a couple of midfielders with the right physical profile. Hopefully, the club's football gurus will quickly understand that the whole "evolution not revolution" isn't going to work. The same nonsense was said when Ten Hag was announced as manager and they went into his first season with Rashford-Martial-Sancho as the forward line with Fred and McTominay behind. That changed quickly after the start of the season, but the damage IMO was already done.

Different people now but the club needs to start rating the players correctly. Amorim has the advantage of coming mid-season when expectations aren't high which will show the higher-ups the real level of those players under two different managers.

He can do that from next season on. For the rest of the season let him concentrate on improving us instead of engaging him in nonsense interviews. Six months without them is not going to reduce our engagement even with the casual fan.

Big job on his hands. You wonder how he feels having left a well oiled machine he built and watched that yesterday. My thought? He will need more time than 2 years. We will take bearings before it gets better. We must strap in for the long haul if we believe in the man.

All well and good to say he needs players. The problem is our transfer windows have constantly disappointed and played a part in our decline since the 2007 window bar some individual hits like de Gea and van Persie. There are others, too, but I think only those two would have the fanbase in pretty much complete agreement of being successes.

This is where we need to see the new structure come into play. The guys doing our scouting and transfers now need to be able to identify technical players who can play under pressure. Without them, no manager is succeeding here. We can't keep signing players who are weak and treat the ball like a hot potato.

If we do this, he will have the best chance of succeeding here of any post Fergie manager.

Sporting fan here. It will be interesting to see what Ruben Amorim can do this season on United.

My honest opinion is that he Will do just as bad if not worse than TH. This doesnt seem a tactical issue. Some of those player look genuinely garbage technically and physically, or lack worth ethics, or both. There is no coach that can fixes that. Squad needs a revamp. That Will probably take time. And more than a season too. Amorim has proven to be a solid coach (just like ETH has) but he definitely doesn't do miracles - he ended in a 4th position in The Portuguese league when his squad was gutted.

Think people Will get a reality check really fast , but good luck. I'm hoping I'm wrong , honestly, and you get your glory days back. Just dont see that happening regardless of coach

He makes a very good point about having to suffer a bit initially as he tries to bed the squad into his style of play. There is obviously significant differences in style in comparison to ETH and it will take the players some time to fully adjust.

But hopefully it's short term pain for long term gain. Amorin will be judged much more next season this season is now going to be very much a transition Ultimately the boards decision to stick with ETH after last season has put us here and now Amorin with limited training time in the middle of the season has to try and get his message across and work out which players can play in his system and which can't.

I suspect it might be something of a rollercoaster initially till he finds the right balance .

First match and he thinks these players are shit already.
Nothing that we don't know but i like that he can see it quickly

Its all good to say now about "Short term pain for long term gain.". But patience has never been our fans' strong point.

yesterday itself we have had people questioning Amorim, his system, etc.

We will have ups and downs in the next few months, esp with 2 games a week till New years. Media will start jumping on the "Bash Amorim" bandwagon, and many of our fans will join that.

I would argue our fans were way too patient in general with ETH. That's not one of our problems.

I think when you allow Ed Sheeran to crash a post match interview its a circus.

It's similar to Salt Bae at the World Cup final trying to pose with the trophy.

Coaching staff are the only ones that should be allowed on the field post match.

I thought this exact tweet at the time then thought I was probably being a bit sensitive, but yeah - it's ridiculous really, and also ridiculous from Ed Sheeran to just think he can waltz into a live broadcast.

1 game and some are losing their shit. I finally saw some structure. Far more secure in the second half. When was the last time we had over 60% possession? Better linking up. Maz was brilliant. De ligt is underrated. No cutting edge up front though. Goals remain our problem but the movements up front were better.

Unfortuntly he's going to have to learn when it comes to media commitments the PL is a circus now, it's totally different to what he's used to. It may not be "law" for him to do so many interviews, but I very much expect its a requirement set by the league, tv companies etc.

This last week will have been a huge learning curve for him about many many things.

The fans and media thought fergie was finished about three or four times during his reign. It's not something new and ultimately to manage Manchester United you have to deal with it one way or another. If Amorin can't handle the outside pressure and noise which comes with the territory than he wont make it here, same goes for the players.

Ultimately he has to be brave enough to stick to what he knows and what he believes in and not compromise for short term gains.

Weather or not he ends up beyond successful here only time will tell, but if he compromises on what he knows and does, he definitely won't be.

I loved the look of disdain which Ruben gave to Sheeran. Showed me that he means business.

ETH would have put on his flat cap, pulled out a ukulele from under his turtle neck and started a duet of “Shape of You” with the disrespectful interview crashing ginger midget gremlin.

I miss lippi and sacchi. They would probably told him that it's already painful to have to discuss football with a nobody like rednapp let alone some 3rd rated singer

Feking Ed Sheeran. What a twat. Amorim looked annoyed and rightly so. Probably didnt even know who he is.

Disagree. EtH was a catastrophe, his football was confused, his emotional intelligence and ability to convey his ideas to his players was poor and his in-game management was abysmal.

These are not bad players, I'm not having it for one second. I have watched United week-in, week-out for 30 years, I know what "good" looks like and I know what "bad" looks like too! This is NOT a bunch of bad players, it's a bunch of confused players who have been poorly coached and organised for a long time now.

I genuinely thought Amorim was about to walk off at one point - which I'd have rated.
