Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

Give it a rest mate. Time to move on, embrace the new way and support the team.

Move on? It’s entirely relevant to what we’re seeing. Maybe you’re still a bit sore about it but I’m just saying it how it is. Every game I’m blown away by how poorly coached or peters are in fundamentals of the game. And there’s one man who has been responsible for that over the last two and a half years.

For his first game with us I’ll give him a 6.5/10

We finally seem to have a defined play style but lack the players or quality to execute it.

Some of the players were also in questionable positions but I suppose this is something they’ll have to get used to.

Mazraoui has had his best games for us as a full back.

Amad is not a wingback.

Rashford is not a striker (or anything else for that matter).

Playing two ageing veterans in central midfield was tantamount to suicide.

Will certainly be interesting to see how he gets on this season and how the players respond to him.
He didn't have options. Many of our players are not fit enough. Ugarte just came from international football. Mainoo coming back from injury. Yoro still not fit enough. Do you think the likes of evans eriksen will even start once we have a full squad.

Eh? I like Hargreaves, he's usually spot on. I do anticipate a lot of players falling out of Amorim's favours.

We saw that Amorim is not afraid to change things if players aren't performing, given he made his subs pretty early. The issue is the players he will replace the starters with are also not good enough. So what does he do then, use the youth players? If that happens he may well be screwed, because they are likely not ready.

It's definitely a tricky situation. I really hope the players aren't as bad as they seem.
Eh? What?

Hargreaves is an absolute rat.

Who’s Peter?

No difference in display for me. I think if Ruud is in charge we might have won for some reason. I'm not knocking Rueben, not one bit, it is going to take time for him to get his ideas ingrained into the players and I hope we give it him.

We played the ball back and forth in the backline a 100 times between five players.
If you can’t play through your opponent, go long.

We can train during the week to get better at progressing the ball in this system.

No I disagree. You won’t click as a team if you give up. In the second half a thought we progressed the ball better, though we were still obviously not great as a whole. But the players need to keep working at these things to get on the same wavelength. They tried long balls but pretty much all of them were an easy turnover of possession.

It’s going to take time. He’s teaching a new system and a bunch of new position to players who can’t even do the basics well enough.

Couple of home games now to hopefully get a couple of good results.

Always a big risk to hire someone who prefers to play 343 in mid-season. Amorim is a great manager but this will take time.

Isn’t that good of you.

I’m sure Amorim is grateful for your start of execution.
Sigh. Can't make an objective statement on this forum without people jumping at you. First I get jumped on for saying ETH had better performances against teams like these this season and I'd expected better today. And then I get this response when I acknowledge it's just one game and ill be patient with Amorim anyways. What's the point in you responding to my post if you aren't going to say anything constructive at all?

The main problem of today's game, the midfield, has nothing to do with Amorim and everything to do with how terribly we have been run and managed in recent times.

For a club the size of Manchester United, we have only one defence-minded midfielder capable of winning duels.

There were players out there over the summer who we could have signed as midfield cover but no let's put our faith in a few 30+ has beens who can't chase and harry. You just can't make it up.

Hopefully Amorim can grind out results for now at least before he can implement his vision, but we can't expect anything to change overnight when we analyze what he's been left with. Admittedly, not having Mainoo, Yoro, and Mount, will also count for a lot, as those players will definitely add to what we saw today.

Key for me is whether he will be able to get anyone in when the window opens again, like Ederson, Gyokeres, Grimaldo, etc, who would fit his system perfectly.

I’m sure he was well aware before taking the job, but the problems at United are bigger than a few different training drills can fix.

Seeing the problems is one thing, getting this group to players to play in a new way might be beyond them.

But the next few weeks will be very interesting to watch. Every fan just needs to keep an open mind.

Think people got carried away watching sporting performances and thought Amorim had the magic hand to immediately transform us into his playstyle that he had there and play swashbucket football against a well drilled Ipswich team who had jus beat spurs managed by a good coach in Mckenna. The guy has had no preseason, has only had the chance to coach half of the team through the international break meanwhile this squad is trying to unlearn bad habits from ten hag's system which has been drilled into them for the last 2 and half years and then learn from Ruud.

We need to manage our expectations some of these players are simply not technically and physically proficient enough to adapt to Armorim's system right away. it will take months before we see it's fruits due to a number of issues, from personnel available, I mean today we had to play evans instead of martinez to football iq of the players available, some will be either fast or slow learners and of course the opposition we play against who are not going to lie down just because we got a new Coach

Not the start he would have wanted or any of us wanted. But you have to give him the chance to implement his ideas. Maybe it’s the way he carries himself but I feel confident that he can improve the team. There are some players though that look way off what we need right now.

Am I the only one thinking it’s a bit naive to openly talk to the press about your tactics when you’ve also explained you play one way only? I mean why, give stuff like that away?

He says the right things and he made positive and proactive subs today to try and win the game. There are reasons to remain optimistic whereas with Ten Hag I saw nothing to give me any confidence.

Not really, all the clubs know how each other play anyway. It shows confidence, something we’ve lacked for years.

I have every confidence in him. Fairly soon I think we will see players such as Gore, Amass,Fletcher and a few others integrated into the first team, maybe even statring on Thurdsay
