Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

No need to get into fights yet, Amorim hasn’t had time yet.

We were worse then I expected though.

Get a grip! ETH didn’t do shit. We “created” chances against this type of opposition cause we were going to end to end with relegation teams. We had no structure. We had no control. Amorim is just to fix just that.
I mean we created way more against teams like Brighton, Crystal Palace, West Ham this season than we did today. Our finishing let us down in those games. And today Ipswich were the better team after the first 10mins, not like the other teams which got better after they made some adjustments at half time.

It's just one game so I'll be patient with him. I mean I am still clinging on to hope that Hojlund and Zirkzee can come good, so I'll extend the same courtesy to our head coach as well. But it was a pretty shit performance today and worse than those 3 games I mentioned. If Onana didn't make world class saves we could have easily lost the game 3-1.

he is true to his 343/3421 and will never, ever change that. get used to it. he will have full-backs playing as a central defender, wingers playing as a wing-back. he is like that. It will take time, it will be tough. but they will succeed

Isn’t that good of you.

I’m sure Amorim is grateful for your start of execution.

He did those things. It's not that deep. I am aware of the underlying context .
No, he didnt. He did not lost or "all over the place" at all. Just like how Ugarte wasn't very good when he came on.

No he didn't. Not consistently, anyway. Besides, comparing a manager 2 and a half years into his tenure to a manager who comes in mid-season and has 2-3 training sessions before his first game is nonsensical. ETH was gradually making us worse. The hope with Amorim is we see slow and steady improvement as he implements his system.
I was talking more about this season anyways. And ofcourse I agree ETH had way more time but my concern is I expected us to be better than what we shown today even with a new system. As we were playing a newly promoted relegation threatened team.

At least he’s seen for himself now the very real issues this squad of players has. He has a big job on his hands. I’d expect to see improvement in our playing style by the end of the season to take into next season after a full pre season.

We have question marks over all areas: Technique, passing, physicality, stamina, 50/50’s, shooting, decision making and generally just having a pretty dumb set of players.

I really hope he’s the one to turn us around but it’s so embedded I don’t have much hope.

Could see in the last few minutes him urging the team to go forward, all the while they were passing around defence. Ten Hag’s horrendous ‘tactics’ really got a lot to answer for.

He will probably take a few games to realise that he can't get away with some of the things he did in the Portuguese league.

I noticed the same ‘smaller league tax’ with Ten Hag (Playing Erikson as a false nine v Brighton and then the Brentford 0-4) and Van Gaal (the Leicester 3:5 loss) before they adapted and had some relative success in their first seasons.

After a few games, I doubt Amorim will play Amad as WB, Evans as LCB, and Erikson and Casemiro as the 2 CMs.

That Kelly Cates is so irritating. Loved it when Fergie shut her up back in the day. Always tries her best to take a swipe at Utd.

It’s such an advantage being able to see for the rest of this season who suits what he wants to do, learn about the character of players etc. However at times it’s going to hurt because a lot of these players aren’t up to it.

I hope he has the guts and resolve to persist and not resort to the same dross out other managers have served up after some pressure and bad results.

I expected bit of a slow start as he’s only had few days to work with players, lots were away on international duty or are returning from injury.

Well he won’t play Evans as he’ll have Martinez and/or Yoro in the side.

He won’t play Casemiro and Eriksen as Ugarte and/or Mainoo will be match fit (or Mount).

He’s done much of what he’s done today based on who was available and has had time on the grass with him. The actual set up won’t change.

I don't think that is what happened at all.

He picked the players that were fit. Mainoo/Ugarte/Mount were all left on the bench as they were either returning to fitness or came back late from internationals and didn't want to risk them.

Casemiro and Eriksen obviously wouldn't be his first-choice pairing.

I really like him and can accept the remainder of this season being the time for learning on the job, with a mixture of results along the way no doubt. The real judgement will then be next season after he’s had time to implement his style and hopefully bring some players he wants to play his system. I’m just delighted we now have a leader with charisma, adopts a clear playing style & formation and heading into the peak of his coaching career all being well.

While there’s no guarantee he’s going to be successful, I think he has a better chance of being successful than his predecessors, as he has Berrada, Ashworth and Wilcox supporting him. Before that, it was basically the manager has business-orientated Woodward or Arnold and the passive Glazer family, who just threw money at the problems hoping they’d go away.

When and if everyone is fit. This would probably be the best team.

Onana
Yoro... De Ligt....Martinez
Maz.....Urgate...Mainoo....Shaw
Amas....Bruno
Hojund

Maybe Mount comes in if he ever gets to full fitness as Wing back or front 3

What's definite is, more signings are definitely needed.

Fair enough, but I honestly see him much better centrally and Garnacho wide. Garnacho pretty much went wide every time he got the ball anyway.

Garnacho isn’t as diligent defensively, which is probably a factor. Like he said though, he’s learning about the players himself. This is probably a million miles away from how it’ll look in a few months time, let alone a year or two.

I think when you allow Ed Sheeran to crash a post match interview its a circus.

It's similar to Salt Bae at the World Cup final trying to pose with the trophy.

Coaching staff are the only ones that should be allowed on the field post match.
