Ruben Amorim - Manchester United Head Coach

When you sit down to discuss what player we need.. how on earth did they come to the conclusion that you need Mount ? When you have a player in his position that plays every game, is captain and doesn't get injured. When the squad had loads of holes, baffling to me.
Just playing devils advocate here, but maybe he wasn’t a player that we needed, but given his contract situation maybe his signing was viewed as an opportunity to take a good player off a direct rival. Just a thought. (I don’t know, I don’t really understand the transfer either!)

From watching the video footage it certainly doesn't seem like it's just a random "guys you lost the ball run back" in the 7 minute video you clearly see them lose the ball and he then tells them point being it's not random and triggered by the event almost like punishment runs for losing the ball in the opposite box, simple drilling to keep the ball at all costs.

Its almost like he has watched what we are bad at? How often did we lose the ball in the build up in opposition half and get countered? All the time. So for him to drill this into players is good to see.

Taking a good player off a direct rival... by handing them £55m. Genius.

Agreed, that is what it was... however; taking a player with 1 year left for £60m is a lot when he was looking like he wouldn't sign a new deal?

We were in the stronger position, yet ended up being mugged off. I remember saying when we signed him, he has only one significant skill, which was how he receives the ball in half spaces.

Other than that I dont see where he excels. Now luckily, we have brought in a manager that uses 2 players in the half space and can make use of his best ability?

Yeah, one injury. Not something I would usually be too worried about.

Well he had 2 seperate pelvic injuries. He returned in April then got another pelvic injury 2 weeks later.

It is a worry when you are paying £60m for that player.

Why sign a player that has just been out injured for over 2 months when you don't know if them injuries would not end up happening again?

Play it safe and sign a player with a less recent injury.

Ye but one thing Amorim is doing which ETH rarely did is getting involved in training. Every time I see pics of ETH in training he was stood with his hands behind his back watching. Amorim is actually coaching some stuff.
As far as I remember we had news that EtH ordered whole team to run 14 km after that Brentford trashing, and also he was doing 14 km with the team to show them how it's done. Don't want to hype everything that is posted, especially few minutes of training where everyone looks professional.

I don't dispute that but we really can't be reading too much into these posts from players. Atleast I can't. Irrespective of how involved Amorim is in training, we've seen this stuff before.
Ye I agree. We’ll see where we are after Christmas.

How long before they decide they don’t like running and throw him under the bus.

Hopefully he as a bit about him and the players will love playing for him. I like that drill as it encourages players to all get back when we lose the ball and then try to win it back.

You can already see a distinct shape and style of play being implemented in training, which is mental.

We're going to really have to rely on our fullbacks having great seasons. For what it's worth I think Dalot and Mazraoui will be great wingbacks.

We're going to try and score a lot of cutbacks.
Cutbacks will get you tons of goals. That’s how city get a lot of their goals or it use to be. The trouble we have with that is that we have selfish wingers whose first instinct is to cut in and shoot. But the good thing with this system is it will be the wingbacks providing the attackers so there assist stats should shoot up.

I agree in terms of the money spent. Its pure negligence imo.

However; since 19/20 season Mount missed 18 games for Chelsea. That is 3 seasons missing 18 games.

He missed 27 games last season only.

It all comes back to Ten Hag's stupid idea that him and Bruno would work as dual 8's (when neither is particularly good as a traditional 8) while leaving whichever poor sap was selected to play DM that day out on a vast island of despair having to cover 100 yards of space

Really think that was the first misstep in Ten Hag's decline. If he instead goes for a true DM to replace Casemiro, and decides to keep Fred (stupid decision to sell him for pennies considering how useful he is as a squad player in that midfield), last season probably ends up a bit better than it did I reckon

We all got excited because we were not happy with the players always downing tools. So anything to punish the players was music to fans ears.

In hindsight, asking an athlete to run isn't going to be anything but punishment. The difference I see is, Ten Hag used to punish players and they felt it as punishment.

Not only was this the issue, when you lose games and ask the players to put in extra training, its fine in principle but when you have players that train and dont play.. then have to do a punishment, is where you lose the players.

Whereas, asking players to run back when they lose the ball is different, there is reasoning to it.

Now in 3 years time, we can again get a new coach and get excited and bash Amorim but I am positive and excited.

I think he will play with Rashford as the 9 on Saturday by the looks of it. It’s been hinted at in reports as well. So Bruno and one other behind.
He probably watched Hojlund play WWE with the opposition defence our last two games and already had enough

Amorim’s role is head coach. ETH’s role is manager. The head coach is probably getting more involved in training.

We over paid for sure, but then again Mount was a Murtough and Arnold signing so most clubs in Europe could see them coming. Hopefully Amorim can make him work for us, or at least recoup some of his cost.

He's not a bad player, so we should be able to get something out of him. It's just that he never gets a proper run of being fit and ready to play.

Also the fact that they are coming out with this after a single training session is pretty funny.

Someone want to tell them that it was only 1/2 the squad in training and the other will join in coming days?

Funny they mention a 10 when that is the position we have most cover.

He isn't missing 1 session though is he? The players from international duty are back Wed/Thursday, so he will miss 50% of the training sessions.

Normally, that would be fine for players to come back in but you're talking about a new system, players need to be drilled in it.

If Amorim thinks Mount has been doing well and likes him there, I could see him starting. I am not saying this is definitely going to be the case, just I can see it happening for the 1 game.
He's trained today, so 1 session. He will definitely play at weekend.

Just watched the training video. Be interested to see if he was happy with it being shared. Gives away a bunch of stuff tactically.

Just out of curiosity does any other team post videos of their training sessions so it goes viral? Just asking because we seem to be giving our opponents inside knowledge on what we do and how we’re going to play etc.

As I’ve just posted. We’re giving opponents info on what we do. Not sure if any other teams do it or if I haven’t noticed because obviously I don’t pay attention to other clubs.

Meh it’s very general stuff that I think any team would already know. It’s not like we are getting all of his whiteboard stuff preparing for Ipswich
