the thing about St. Lucia is it's so mountainous there's only one real road that goes right round the outside of the island. it's being relaid so it's a pretty good surface but there isn't one single straight or level stretch on it. plus the locals are so used to it, they drive like feckwits. the day before the first game, we took a test drive from Soufriere to Rodney Bay (26 miles apart) but after 2 hours we were only two thirds of the way there so turned back. day of the match we took a taxi...he did the whole trip in an hour and a half!
there are loads of little backroads but they are just ridiculous. not so much dirt tracks as rubble tracks. if you've seen Ace Vantura II where he's driving the jeep and pretending to bounce up and down...was exactly like that!

they haven't been for a coupla weeks, to be fair.
It was a fluke when they got it anyway. Aussies are by far and away the best side in both forms of cricket (20/20 no doubt aswell). I thought after the Ashes England may challenge them, but we've faded awfully.
As a neutral perspective, English cricket has a lot of promise. I mean you've got the 2nd best ODI batsman in the world (after Ponting in my opinion), a very good allrounder (although a tad inconsistent) and some decent bowlers. I reckon the first step would be to sort out your top order, and in my opinion I would drop Vaughan, I just don't think he's a good ODI batsman.
