Are you implying a correlation between Manchester United players' infamous misadventures and Microsoft?! Is Bill Gates a secret United fan then? :p

fecking hillarious.

Is he not suspended for the Liverpool game? If thats the case then, its really bad news, the last thing we want is to lose to them again. (6x)
:(

Anybody know the score with the appeal procedure - I know he has 14 days to appeal but how quickly is he likely to have it heard?

And if you beat Leicester in the worthy, will there be another round in time to get him available for the Liverpool game?

I found it quite funny that the lawyer fella said that these decisions werent to be rushed, they clearly were going to find the fixture lists!

If you appeal and lose, he's out for the game against Arsenal and probably still out for the Liverpool game. I reckon that they'll take that ban, given that 1 of the matches he wouldnt have played anyway...

What does anybody else think?

Yes, he is. But if you are referring to my post about Eric, I was making the point that Eric made his comeback in a big game, and so will Keano against Arsenal, and just as Eric's return against the bindippers kick started our season, hopefully, Keano's return against the arse will do the same for us again.

Of course, the above is only relevant if he decides not to appeal, otherwise, he is in danger of missing the Arsenal match too.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for the big match Arsenal return. Just imagine the hype......

IF that the case, i rekon Sir Alex might as well field his starting XI against Leicester so that we could get to the next round. Can anybody confirm this??

Damn it! Done a bit of homework. Keane's suspension start at Nov 5 to Dec 1, including a worthington tie (Leicester). But the next round starts at (IF I"M NOT WRONG) 4th of Dec. ALAS!
Is there any other way we can sqeeze in a domestic tie during that period? Will there be a replay if we drew against Leicester? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

A few words from me....

So Roy has been found guilty on 2 counts of murder, erm sorry bringing the game into disprepute, and banned for 5 games plus a record £150,000 fine (around 2 weeks wages to put that in context). His ban starts on 4th November and covers the Leicester (WC), Man city, West Ham, Newcastle & Liverpool games, but not the Champions League. The ban takes effect at almost exactly the time he was predicted to come back from his injury. He should now return for the Arsenal game in December (nervous Arsene? ;) )

I have to say that I think this is harsh. Should he have deliberately gone into Haaland with injuring him in mind? No. But he served a four match ban at the time, and Haaland was not seriously injured (read his diary from the time on icons.com if you doubt that). So he does not warrant another banning for the same offence. Even the Court system of the UK cannot prosecute twice for the same exact crime.

Should he have admitted in his book that he intended injury? No. But should a few words in a book make any difference as to whether the FA considered the act serious at the time? No. They already decided at the time that it was a serious foul and banned him.

The other allegation was that he published his account of this incident for financial gain. This was a few lines in a book, and hardly the main sales point of the book. It wasn't released as "Keane: I broke Haaland's Leg" and wasn't a major factor in the book being published. It was a few lines in hte book that were pulled up and highlighted by the media. So to find him guilty of trying to profit from the incident is ridiculous. The man earns £70-80,000 per week, he hardly needs to drum up some spare income from defaming his own image.

He will maintain a loyal fanbase with true reds, just as Beckham in 98 and Cantona in 95 did. The boo's will only make us stronger.

Spot on. I wonder how many, if any, people bought the book after they read the quote in the paper. I know plenty of people read just the quote and went "I always knew Keane was a murdering thug who should be put away for life", and then didn't buy the book, just so they could be comfortable saying it. So where did the financial gain come from?

The problem is both Beckham and Cantona learnt from their mistakes. Neither of them continued their idiotic ways. Cantona kung fu kick was his last naughty act. So was Beckham's unsportsmanship against Argentina.

There hasn't been any sign that Keane is likely to stop thinking about murdering people on the field. This I think will be the key for the fans to decide if they want to support him.

Cantona and Beckham came back BIG and POPULAR. Will keane be able to match this quality?

I will support him 100% if he comes back and only has the league and ECC Championship in mind. If he gets a red card with Arsenal in his come back for another intentional foul then maybe it will be the end of the line for him and United.

How far will SAF tolerate this crazy act of his? How far will our fans tolerate this? I know I am one of those people who wouldn't wanna be keeping my fingers crossed on how many games he will be banned with his next red card.

We have a solid replacement in Butt and personally I'm not worried about losing Keane. Actually, I was more worried about losing Stam then losing Keane right now.
